We are the "small" people! Gulliver beware! hai guyz

Continuing the discussion from @loopback01 loops again:
Having fun, are you? Taunting the "small" people?
-_-
we are not amused.
ok, fair i tell a lie; we are amused, but could you at least unlock the topic when you reply so we can join in the fun?

But that would spoil their fun…Motion seconded

@boomzilla's been having fun editing the title of the linked thread. it was @loopback01 when i made this one now it's 02. the link in the sidebar changes the link in the OP isn't because that's part of the post proper.

Wait so that's not dynamic?
Everything else is dynamic, but those aren't...
DISCOURSE

Everything else is dynamic, but those aren't...
Ugh...making part of a post dynamic?

Ugh...making part of a post dynamic?
would be an interesting challenge.... until you went insane from all the edge cases.

Ugh...making part of a post dynamic?
This is discourse...
Given the behavior of some things (oneboxes namely) I really wouldn't put it past them

but could you at least unlock the topic when you reply so we can join in the fun?
Or close this one?
-
Or close this one?
the power has gone to your head! you're falling into the dark side!
-
until you went insane from all the edge cases.
There are many edge cases in Discourse. Just sayin'. No, no point; just makin' an observation, ya know.
-
You chose the category with the automatic closure after an hour because you want the TL4+ to keep chatting here as well after it was closed automatically?
Filed Under: Thats the only reason I could come up with :D
-
You're evil.
-
-
Dischorse will close it in 7 Discominutes anyway.

ok, fair i tell a lie; we are amused, but could you at least unlock the topic when you reply so we can join in the fun?
Where would the fun in that be?

Booyah.
-
Just testing something. Doth the archive message lie?
-
Apparently.
-
Well, sort of. You can't, e.g., like stuff.
-
Duckwhores.
-
-
Weird.
-
Is that why there are two padlocks on the topic list?
-
Well, I closed it for a little bit, too. One for each of those.
-
So Dischorse uses the same icon to mean two different things and displays them both when one would suffice.
Of course it does.

Yeah, I remember a discussion about that on meta.d about how stupid that was.
The discodevs didn't get it.

In fact, I think it would use it for restricted categories, too, but @PJH put in some custom CSS.

That was raised months ago. Nice to see something's been done about it. Like using different icons
Oh - wait...
There's a similar problem in Admin actually, only my CSS-fu seems unable to penetrate the depths of the admin interface all the time (Widescreen doesn't work if I middle-click there.)
Without my CSS - guess which is admin and which is mod?
With my CSS

My CSS misses (parts of) the category list:

This topic is now opened.
Moved to Meta.

The UI tracks every single span of time you've locked it, with a school room like sticker board of padlock icons?
How is that even helpful?
-
I have no idea what you're talking about.
-
Why more than one lock icon?
-
One was for it being closed, one was for it being archived.
-
Why isn't archived a  or a  ..?
-
And they look the same...
Which means they are either redundant, or shouldn't look the same.

That sounds suspiciously like Doing It Wrong.

You must be new here.

That's it, I'm going to write a UI book, and try to get it published.
-
CSS proposal:
Replace every FA icon by a lock. Because all those icons are CONFUSING.
-
-
We should replace all avatars with something simple too. I suggest a picture of Mr. Burns
-
*.fa:before { content: "\f023" !important; }
Needs some tweaking to hit the icons not marked with the
.fa
tag, like bookmarks.
