I do hope that's a misprint...

Something tells me Git's not *really* 17GB...

maybe it's predownloading all of M$'s GIT repos for you?
-
Or downloading a whole Unix emulation layer so that all the various ancillary git tools can run as well.
-
maybe it's predownloading all of M$'s GIT repos for you?
I think it is just a misprint; the speed it downloaded makes it more like 17MB
-
This is next-gen Git with voice-acting and cinematic cutscenes.
-
It's not a misprint. Based on my experience, and like GitHub for Windows, they're using the default (static unshared) builds of PortableGit, where each of the 50+ binaries is a 34MB monstrosity with all the code from every compilation unit and library included. At least they compress well...
And yes, I asked GHfW to use the shared builds, with one 34MB DLL and a bunch of 20KB apps that call into it, but "it's not the default, so *shrug*" is the response du jour...

"it's not the default, so shrug" is the response du jour...
Sounds like this needs a Blakeyrant about open source software ...

github has started to gamify.... look at their graphs and stuff for activity.

Yeah, I meant the bare Git application.

You do know those title edits appear on the front page, don't you, @accalia?
-
hmm... oh so this is in the sidebar...
nice.
-
Doesn't seem to update straight away - can still see the mspaint title on the Sidebar.
-
I'd have gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling caches
-
-
I wonder if you could port the one post nyan cat to the front page side bar ...

Most of it, probably.
-
i wonder how the front page handles HTML?
-
Pretty sure that happened already. Back when Discourse was new. According to DiscoDevs it's nothing they can fix because it's mainpage-code.
Filed Under: Can I - once again - implore you to leave mainpage alone. I got my XSS-bade this way

There's a difference between hilarity involving Unicode and exploiting things, though.

i wonder how the front page handles HTML?
survey says.... not well.
or was I the only person who had the sidebar go away on the main site while this thread had a title that was surrounded with <div> tags?
-
But you don't even need to add div-containers and HTML to do that.
All you need to do is filter Sidebar by creationdate and use your TL3-powers to change the titles accordingly...Filed Under: I am not even sure how this is not yet fixed...

Nope, thats why I edited the title.

Nope, thats why I edited the title.
huh.... what the hades happened then?
cause that's a fail on discourse levels... i even self closed the html tag to try and minimize bad things.
-
TDWTF is TRWTF, again, I guess.

-
You have likely just killed blakey. I hope you can live with yourself.
-
This post is deleted!
-
The obvious solution to somebody sneaking in HTML-code into the mainpage is not loading anything if html-content is found, I guess:

Filed Under: How can we critizise Discourse when this stuff happens?
-
To no-one in particular: Please don't mess with the content or otherwise attempt to vandalize stuff on the front page, it pisses Alex off no end.
KTHXBYE.
-
:-( sorry!
i was just curious and i thought just adding a <div> would be innocuous enough......
i promise to be good.

Is it possible to stop Sidebar titles being edited by TL3s? I know it kinda breaks the trust concept, but... well, how many titles have threads like t/1000 had?
Or, since the edit history is preserved, maybe the front page could get the original title instead of the current?

Nope.

Getting that out of the database via SQL alone is not something I'd want to attempt; I'm not sure Alex would relish the opportunity to do so...
-
but... well, how many titles have threads like t/1000 had?
Strange you should ask...

That count for t/3218โฆ

Oh wow, I guess they were reading that other thread and started putting in all the binary format diffing utilities for you!
-
t/1000
About once every 2-3 days, I notice a new thread in General that I don't remember seeing before, but seems active enough to warrant further investigation. It is invariably t/1000, which I have abandoned any hope of making sense of.
IT IS ALWAYS T/1000.
-
Hmmโฆ long threads have that funny arrows thing by themโฆ maybe @PJH could add a style that marks t/1000 with something unique?

Seems to be done.
