They took out the GUI for it, you can still run the command line tool for it.
really? What is it?
-
If you're not going to OC, you're wasting your money on a k-series, but I'm sure you know that.
i plan on it. i just haven't yet. want to do a full burn in without OC before i start stressing with OC
They took that out of Windows 8.1.
orly? i posted mine anyway. :-D

Fire up an elevated Powershell prompt, then run:
winsat prepop
Then
Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_WinSAT
-
exactly that!

thatsthejoke.ppm
Well, not really, the joke is actually the whole experience index and the fact that the 'highest score' is 7.9

Didn't Windows 8 up the cap to 9.9? Microsoft always said the numbers would rise with successive OSes: for Vista the cap was 5.9.
-
But why x.9? Just so you can differentiate?
-
-
Here's mine; not quite there, but this computer is now a little over a year old

Judging by how long that took to run, not all that good. ($300 Acer Win8.1 tablet).

I'm going to make a resolution to not commit genocide this year.
It's 10:53 AM January 1st. So far, so good.
Evidently, you did not make a resolution to not steal C&H jokes.
-
7.7? Your CPU sucks. :p
-
CPUScore : 8.3
D3DScore : 8.8
DiskScore : 5.9
GraphicsScore : 8.8
MemoryScore : 8.3

Your mom sucks. Sucks my CPU.
Besides, this forum was the assholes who recommended I do not upgrade my CPU when I asked. Remember?
-
I resolve to be more truthful and also less caring of what the other icons say in my bitexchanges here.
Yes, all my new year resolutions involve this forum.
Also, I resolve to use tinytext more often to communicate things that you have to put more effort into reading.

Your mom sucks. Sucks my CPU.
My mom's dead, you jerk.
Besides, obviously me calling a 7.7 score sucky was a joke. You should learn how to understand those, you heartless bastard!
-
C&H
I do not know what this means.
Brb Discourse/Browser is using 3G of RAM anmaking my whole system crawl.
-
to not steal C&H jokes.
My first thought...why would a Hawaiian sugar company make jokes?
C&H, pure cane sugar, is the one.
-
He probably means Cyanide and Happiness, a web comic with two incredibly large hard-to-type words in its title. If you're a retard.

Obviously easy to figure out, if this man can get it.
-
Ok, I'm going to break down and pull a mini-blakey here...
What the Belgium is the origination of the "Keep Calm" memes? Being not much on the social pulse cutting edge, I'm a bit bewildered by it, and CBA to Google for it, because my buttumption is that I won't be able to get the actual origination from Google or something.
OK, so the first result on Google was a Wikipedia article that seems fairly accurate, but does nothing for telling me why it's taken off as a major thing

Don't ask me, I'm obviously also infected with the brain worm. You'll have to ask someone sane.

did not!
:-P

32GB of RAM...
I must be old; I can remember when 32MB was a lot!
I remember when it was measured in KB...

First computer in 1986?! I was born in 1986.
-
Win95 required 4MB so that should give you an idea. AFAIR with my Win98 I had 128MB and 32MB in the video card. So probably on 1996 32MB was a lot of RAM. Remember the stupid paired memory chips? Agh!
-
no... that was my birth year. it was like 98 when i got a computer that was mine (it was a handmedown when father upgraded)
-
1986 and my first computer, that was exclusively mine, had 8MB
Sounds like it was a beast.
-
Ah right, gotcha. Think it must have been about '98 for me too.
-
My first computer was a Macintosh and it had a whooping 128KB of memory and some of it was to load the OS there.
-

My first PC was a hand-me-down Packard Bell running Windows 95; it had 32MB of RAM, upgraded from 16MB.
Every PC I've had since has been a self-build. My current machine has 8GB; I'll be doubling it soon I think. However, the first computer my family had was the good old Commodore 64
-

Hah. 1992 was when I first had a computer bought with my own money, instead of being received as a gift. I liked that 386DX33 a lot. Got the disk out of it somewhere round here still, though I've no idea what I could put an old style ATA disk in these days…
-
[1986] was my birth year.
Yeah, 1986-era computers had about 100KB. If you were lucky/rich..
-
Yeah, 1986-era computers had about 100KB. If you were lucky/rich..
Or 1KB if you weren't. Upgradable to 16KB if you wanted to pay out as much again as you did for the computer. (Total - ~£400/$600/€500 in today's prices in the UK.)
-
The ZX-81 was a little bit earlier. 1986 was the era of the ZX-Spectrum (only available in a 48kB RAM model at that point) and its rival the Commodore 64.
-
First 'puter was an Apple //c in '86. 5¼" floppies FTMFW! Sweet memories playing Boulder Dash, Carmen Sandiego, some other game that involved people living in trees and caves...
-
My first own PC was one that was initially used by mostly my parents, some off-brand Windows 98SE machine with a Pentium III 500MHz, 14.2GB HDD, 256MB RAM (initially 16MB) and an Nvidia RIVA TNT. And it had a CD-RW drive!
-
I'm from 1984; my first PC was an IBM 386. 4MB ram 80MB HD, if memory serves. Probably in 1994.
-
I wonder how many of you had a "computer room" and your mom bought a plastic cover for the thing. I always found that funny since we had a laptop and it was all around the house (Austin 386DX [yes, that was a manufacturer in the 90's])
-
The first PC that was exclusively mine had some Cyrix junk processor that "competed" with the Pentium, 32 MB RAM, and I think an 8 GB hard drive. And the side cover removed with a box fan next to it since the CPU fan didn't work.
This was probably 1996 or 97.
-
1986 was the era of the ZX-Spectrum (only available in a 48kB RAM model at that point)
Yah, was thinking of the Spectrum. I remember that when it booted it would print something like:
© 1982 Sinclair Research Ltd
across the bottom of the screen (yay, nostalgia).
I found some website which says the 128K models were released in 1985 though...
-
256KB RAM. And two 5¼" floppies.
That was followed by a 286, which was followed by another 286, which was followed by a 486 laptop...
