Game Deals Thread
-
What I want to post didn't exactly fit into Gifting Area or Spotlight thread, so... new thread!
I wanted to pimp out this:
http://www.gog.com/promo/big_fall_spiderweb_rpgs_bundle_141114A bundle with 12-13 Spiderweb Software games, 80% off for the next 20 hours. DRM free.
These are 100% indie hardcore RPG-s from my favorite game company. This guy Jeff Vogel makes only hardcore RPG-s. And he made like 20 of them by this point. So he fucking knows what he's doing.
If you liked the old Ultima-s, Fallout 1/2, Baldur's Gate and such, and you can get over the crappy graphics, BUY THIS NOW.
My favorites are Avernum 1-3 and Nethergate: Resurrection (which unfortunately isn't included). The engine he uses there is the best IMO.
Geneforge series has about the most interesting idea and storyline of all RPG-s. And it's more single PC instead of party oriented. My fav is Geneforge 4.
Anyway, a fantastic deal. Highly recommended.

I got this on Steam when it was on sale: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/33525/
I love me some Vogel, but be aware only Avernum: Escape from the Pit is using a even slightly modern usable engine. The other games are outright painful to play, and Avernum ain't pleasant. (Supposedly the entire old "Exile" series is going to be ported to the Avernum engine, but he's taking his sweet time. By the time he finishes that port, he'll just instantly have to start another because the Avernum engine is creaky, too.)
It's the only RPG I've seen that has "doing laundry" as a money sink:

While the interface in the old Avernums suck, I like the tiling engine (none of that fucking particle effect crap he discovered later) and the way secrets are executed. I loved analyzing the map, figuring out empty spaces and casting "Seeing Eye" spell into the darkness, hoping to catch a secret passage. In later games, he switched to looser level design and small buttons you need to click, which is for me less fun.

$4 for Injustice: Gods Among Us, a DC comics fighting game. It amused me for 12-15 hours, the story is completely nonsense garbage (but it's a fighting game, so that's pretty much to be expected), but it's entertaining nonsense garbage.

Fuck these guys.
Also, if you're a fan of Sonic, a huge bundle for 25 quid:

-
That would be awesome if I didn't already have like just about everything already and not nearly enough time to actually play them.
-
Also, if you're a fan of Sonic, a huge bundle for 25 quid:
Ugh, how can anyone be a fan of Sonic? He's basically the definition of empty comity-engineered corporate mascot. And his games suck too.
In other news:
Come on... come on... just 4 more hours...

There's many great Sonic games, even some of the newer ones are great fun. Sonic Generations springs to mind.
-
Ugh, how can anyone be a fan of Sonic?
They at some point played Sonic 2, the best platformer ever made in history?
And his games suck too.
Surprisingly, Generations is pretty good. And the Sonic games other than 2006 aren't really "bad", just "aggressively mediocre". 2006 is bad.
It annoys me that you have to complete the "challenge" mini-games to advance the main story, though. I just wanna play goddamned Sonic levels! Why are there mini-games! Why do I need them to get keys! I do not want to race obscure Sonic characters I don't even recognize!
... also it's not technically a Sonic game, but Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing is a great kart-racing game. The sequel, Transformed, ain't as great though.

Behind Rayman Legends? I can see that.

EDIT: wow the guy who recorded those is AWFUL at the music levels. Sheesh. FYI if you don't suck, your character stays in rhythm with the music and you collect all the sub orb things. However, they are correctly using the Viking chick, the best unlockable character by far, so points there.
EDIT: holy shit I forgot about the mariachi/kazoo cover of Eye of the Tiger, that track is SO awful. But kind of in a good way?
-
Behind Rayman Legends? I can see that.
Not the game I had in mind, but I do seem to remember it was very well received.
-
Ok well since you aren't telling, it's Rayman Legends. I decree it. The end. QED.

Treasure Island Dizzy

Croc 2.
EDIT: he's probably referring to Freedom Planet, that game that's "not Sonic 2, but an incredible simulation!"

Blast processing to the max! Radical, dude!

Or I could be talking about Sonic 3 & Knuckles (which I prefer to Sonic 2). Or I could be talking about Super Mario 64.

You could be, but we already determined you're talking about Rayman Legends so you aren't.
-
You could be, but I passed a Royal Decree of the Order of the Rat of Blakey declaring you're talking about Rayman Legends so you aren't.
FTFY :P
-
First 3 sonic games and Sonic and Knuckles? Classic.
-
Or I could be talking about Sonic 3 & Knuckles
While I haven't played Sonic 2, I agree. Let's throw a coup.

I think I'm going to be a horrible person this year and get the Walmart MCC bundle deal at 6pm on Thanksgiving.
I am part of the problem, not the solution.

The latest bundle on indiegamebundles.com:
##The Linux Learner Bundle
Navigate The Ins-And-Outs Of Linux With 6 Elite Courses & 50+ Hours Of Comprehensive Content
WTF? How is this a gaming bundle?
Still, 90% off. Seems to be beginner level mostly. If someone's looking to get into linux, this could be worth their time.
-
Seems to be beginner level mostly
That pentester course seems somewhat more advanced, though the course page doesn't fill me with too much confidence.
WTF? How is this a gaming bundle?
To be fair, they seem to hardly have gaming deals - the front page includes things like bluetooth beanie, a selfie kit and a ridiculously expensive e-cigarette/vaporizer kit.
-
a selfie kit
$25 for a stick.Presumably so a T-Rex can take a selfie. After all, humans have arms that are, well, arms-length.
And this:
Listen Up & Keep Warm With The Sound* Powered Bluetooth Beanie
\* Note: Beanie actually powered by batteries.
-

There's a preview of one of the videos. A guy is dully reading off a script in a heavily accented voice. The OS and video feel like they are about 10 years old.
If other videos are on this level, I'd skip this bundle. Although, it's surprisingly difficult to find coding videos with good presenters. This isn't much below the average.

FF7 now for a humble price of 6.50 Euro. The re-release doesn't bring much new to the table, but hey, it's still FF7.

RUMOR HAS IT Steam has a fall sale starting tomorrow. They do their store updates at 10:00 AM PST so we'll know then.
-
Hey now, let's get back on topic. Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection has each of the individual Sonic games on genesis, including Sonic & Knuckles, but doesn't have the locked-on version. Previous collections like Sonic Mega Collection did include the lock-on games, but apparently the developers of this one couldn't manage to port over the super-duper-complex Genesis emulator that allowed that to happen. The official excuse was that implementing Sonic 3 & Knuckles would have meant dropping some of the other BS games that nobody cared about. Because you know, people who buy Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection would rather play Golden Axe Warrior on Master System.
-
"locked-on version"? What does that mean?
-
-
Soo, the Steam deals are up. Not too many mind-blowing stuff, but there's -75% on Mass Effect 1 and 2 (1,99 and 4,99 euro respectively - Origin has similar discounts if that's what's rocks your boat).
I also racked up Mirror's Edge for 2,50, Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine for 2,75 (not sure about this one, it seems fun, but complicated), and a SpaceChem DLC for 20 cents.
Filed under: by the way I'm on Steam guys
-
This list is sorted by lowest price:
I'm not sure what that means, and I think Steam isn't sure either.
-
Yeah, noticed that too. Further on it's sorted normally, but it just slaps Deus Exes (?) on the front for some reason.
Also, a nice price of 8,25 euro on the enhanced Thief edition elsewhere - the regular one still costs 29,99 for some reason though. Still a bit too expensive for me given the fact that I have I, II and III to go through, but whatever floats your goat.
-
Yeah, noticed that too. Further on it's sorted normally, but it just slaps Deus Exes (?) on the front for some reason.
That's a pretty minor bug as far as Steam bugs go, frankly.
-
Have you played this game, and if so, made a review?
-
@blakeyrat knows this already (he was helping me out last night) but apparently buying Skyrim DLC requires me to start the game over. I'm pretty sure it was hearthfire that caused the crashes, but it could have just been Bethesda hating me because I gave them money.
-
Have you played this game,
Yes.
and if so, made a review?
No. Approximately 483,234,324 other people already have.
-
To be fair, your save had tons of mods on it, which is not something Bethesda has any way of testing compatibility with.
-
Bah, I'm not interested in reviews made by other people.
-
I'll add it to my list if I get bored. I actually haven't made any videos yet this week... I have a bunch of C-64 stuff in the works, that's a lot more unique on the YouTubes.
-
Base Skyrim for 2,50 pounds. For some reason it insists I get the Polish version, but I assume it won't be the case for everybody (location sniffing?).
B9J1L1-0AZCS9-S0IASV
gets it down to 2 quid.Ridiculously good deals on Spellforce series here.
GAMERSGATE-TURKEY
gets another 20% off.Nothing too mindblowing on Steam, though. AoE II remake goes for 4 euro, which is a price it should have had to begin with, and the only other game I'm interested in (Kerbals) only got a -40%.
-
All Valve games, 75% off (~ $20) for another day. I'm buying it mostly for the Counter Strike: Global Offensive. I grew tired of the Fistful of Bullets and need a new multiplayer FPS. That, and the standard "sorry for pirating" deal.

and if you havent played these games you should!

It only has the first game's DLCs, though. Be aware that if you want the full story, you're going to be bleeding money anyway.
-
-
Lots of great deals on GOG.com right now. I just bought last year's Shadow Warrior for ~ $4 (90% off).
-

yeah, that's true.
of course the DLCs for 2 and 3 do tend to go on sale about once a year for 50% off so you can save a bundle just by being patient.
