Retry button loads the first post, not the first unread
-
I've noticed this a few times on my phone when the connection has dropped out, but I've just recreated it in the desktop view on Chrome.
Step 1
Load the front page. Note the numbers that I've pointed arrows at in the picture below. When I click into that topic, post 190ish should load. DON'T CLICK YET!
Step 2
Disconnect your internet connection and click into the topic. After a few seconds, the Try Again button will be displayed:
Step 3
Reconnect your internet connection and click Try Again. Instead of taking you to the first unread post, the page loads the first post in the topic. There's no easy way to get to the first unread from here without navigating back to the main list and clicking again.

Troubleshooting question: Do you have "spam my history" enabled or disabled?
-
I have "Don't update URL while scrolling through topics" disabled, so therefore "spam my history" is enabled.

*sigh* and this is why I can't be a psychic troubleshooter :'(
-
I just tried it with "Don't update URL while scrolling through topics" enabled, and it happened again.
It's fairly easy to test if anyone else wants to give it a go.

Speaking of which, why in Belgium's name is this option phrased as a negative?
"Don't jump to your new post after replying"

I can repo in IE11 as well.

Speaking of which, why in ■■■■■■■'s name is this option phrased as a negative?
Because the discodevs can't conceive of positive wording on a user option which is enabled by default. In their minds, all user options are disabled by default.

"Don't abstain from not enabling turning off updating URL while scrolling through topics"
There, all better.

This is a trivial repro if you have a laptop.
The problem is that the topic retry code is divorced from the global retry code, for bad reasons. The loading is weird. So the global retry (frowny face screen) will bring you to the right place, but the topic retry won't.
