sorry?

Daily WTF'd that for you

I played the beta and it was basically like playing Halo ...
Bungee are like the Apple of gaming. Their stuff isn't groundbreaking, but it's very well integrated indeed (which can matter a lot, but is hard to put on a checklist). The first Halo had two key things where it was much better than what went before: no noticeable loading lag once you'd started playing — and consequently large levels — and good balance between all the weapons. This was very different to the majority of what preceded it, and pretty widely copied by what followed, though there are still many game devs who don't seem to understand the point with the weapons. In any case, it was a highly influential game. (Didn't play the sequels much for a mix of reasons, including having to spend a lot more time on work…)

Halo was a decent multiplayer console FPS. Halo was shite compared to counterstrike or team fortress or even Quake 3. Halo as a FPS was always mediocre at best even at the time. It was the best console FPS at the time but nothing more.
The last FPS game I really enjoyed was the new Castle Wolfenstein, because it felt like a decent FPS and it had the quake style shooting mechanics.

Halo's PVP multiplayer was poor (they improved it a lot in the sequels). The campaign was the good part, both single-player and co-op. CS and TF didn't have that at all IIRC, and I think the focus of Q3 was always the PVP side. Completely different focus of developer effort.I was always keener on strategy games that FPSes.

Then explain why pretty much every FPS since Halo has ripped-off its mechanics.
-
blakey, are you one of those "console master race" people?
-
I am getting spanked at Destiny multiplayer. Like... I'm not that good at multi in the first place, but maaan.
-
The walking tank boss in the 3-man raid in Russia is sooo tedious to kill. Took like 20 minutes.
The eyeball boss that follows takes like 2 minutes. Hm.
EDIT: this time when fighting the moon boss with the really terrible music, Destiny decided to save me by disconnecting from the server right at the beginning of the boss fight.

Streaming it right now: http://www.hitbox.tv/blakeyrat

ima just leave this here:
Oh look, they finally released Wasteland? Next thing you know, we'll get Fallout 4, and I'll end up locking myself in a basement for half a month or so.
-
Stream's over.
-
Not that I remember. Like I said, I don't remember any of the tunes except the In Orbit screen and the Tower because any other time i'm hearing gunshots.
I find any time I try to remember the music, I either end up with the opening theme for Defiance, or the Halo theme (probably just because I love the strings section in that theme)
-
Ah, yeah, I remember it now, from the first time you face a Hive Wizard. It's a pretty forgettable track for me.
What sort of sound setup do you have when you play? I'm wondering if the audio is mixed so that the audio only comes out Front-Left and Front-Right and none of the surrounds.

I think Sunset Overdrive is looking pretty good (It's from Insomniac Games, the guys who made Spyro, Resistance, Ratchet and Clank). Granted, I haven't played it yet, but it's only a little over a month until it's released. It's being bundled with a special white console too (sold without the Kinect, if you're one of those people).
-
I only use stereo and a woofer.
-
Righto. Maybe the music will be a bit more noticeable even while in a gunfight when you have stereo only
-
Maybe Bungie should FUCKING LET PEOPLE TURN IT FUCKING OFF LIKE EVERY OTHER VIDEO GAME EVER MADE EVER AAAASAFSHGSDhfgsd
-
You could do that in Sonic the Hedgehog 2?!
-
It's not funny to pretend you don't understand hyperbole.
-
It's not funny to be a condescending prick to people who actually get your humour, but that doesn't seem to stop you.
-
Nothing stops me. I'm the wind, baby.
-
Yes, we noticed. I literally do not have a sense of smell and I smelt your odour on the wind.
Next you'll be telling me it's environmentally friendly because it's natural gas.
-
I've had good results with Beano.

You should mention they just did the first 3 Spyro games... you know, the ones that were actually good.

Well, it's hot gas all right. And technically, depending on what he eats, it might even be natural.
