The forum only has one passable poster

Last day without Discourse Bugs: null <t3241p350>

And on topic, I think admins should have some kind of symbol. While it's true admins will not necessarily perform as moderators, there are a class of issues they can take care of which moderators cannot and so it's useful to know who they are.
Agreed that a visual indicator is a good thing. However, you can find out who they are from Hamburger -> About.
-
I still think they should have something like, say, fa-keyboard or so next to their name.
-
That makes no sense to me....Muting is the complete opposite of tracking
Insert Start button joke here.
-
I don't disagree. A visual indicator that poster X has admin and/or mod powers is useful. I'm just saying there is a (less convenient) way to find out without it.

True, but that visual indicator next to their name is nice to have, and there's no reason not to have it. Especially on forums where they might say, "Screw it, let's just make our mods Administrators. Then no one really needs to have the Moderator privileges."
In fact, @sam, I can see that scenario occurring now just to obscure who the mods are.

[Why are you guys using PJH as a fucking database administration ap][1]p? [Leave him alone][2].
(first link, blakey's the TDWTF version of that.)

I'm sure he'll make it clear to people if and when he's had enough.
Snort. Probably we'll know by someone getting the frist Closed badge.
-
There's a statistic I'm curious about:
Who likes whom the most? (excluding the likes thread, of course)
-
-
one that spans between 2 and 9 continents, depending on how you count continents
-
depending on how you count continents
Wrong. I'll always count it the wrong way given any option.
-

What's interesting is that moderator powers sort of creep up on you. Which is to say that you start getting some of them at TL3, more at TL4 and then more at moderator and even more at admin (which seems to be who can create badges and grant them).
-
@PJH isn't an admin and can create badges...?
-
@PJH is an admin. He can create badges.
http://what.thedailywtf.com/groups/admins/members
He's also a moderator:
-
This is confusing. Fucking Discourse.
-
Fucking Discourse.
we should be, or it is? if it is who else is participating in the event?
-
No, it just needs to be fucked with a purple dildo with cactus spines, in the ear.
-
@PJH isn't an admin and can create badges...?
He's a forum admin, but not a server admin. So he can do anything via the forum software, but can't do things like see the database directly.
-
would you like me to arrange that?
-
I have a feeling Jeff would probably enjoy it.
-
so i shouldn't video tape it and post on youtube?
-
-
should i make sure of that?
-
With prejudice.
-
Yes my knight, i shall do it and report success to you upon the morrow.

Congrats @blakeyrat!
-
hehe the one who hates the badges the most gets them all ...
-
okay... i'l bite, how are we going to get him up to reasonable poster?
-
Sockpuppets and bots?
-
well yes we could do that, but really that feels like cheating...
-
Hmm ...
Maybe we should get all our friends to join this place?
Filed under: Won't be too many in my case, though

Maybe we should get all our
friendsenemies to join this place?this is Discourse remember, FTFY.

I find it interesting that one of the two people tied for most days visited in that list, with one day more than even @PJH, is Mister Ragequit, aka @blakeyrat.
@ben_lubar acted on the email the day before I did I'm guessing. As did the other person.
I knew this before day 100 when I was messing with the 100% badge SQL.
My point was, administrators are unique users, with special privileges. That should be indicated to the other users.

The list isn't exactly private. But I'll admit the link isn't that visible, but it is available in the UTL FAQ.
And on topic, I think admins should have some kind of symbol.
As you can probably tell from that list (and is probably true on other forums) admins (as opposed to moderators) are rarely visible - or if they are, it's as a 'normal user of the forum.'
Who likes whom the most? (excluding the likes thread, of course)
My God, it's turning into a dating site...
http://tdwtf.match.com. o_O.
Remind me Monday and I'll see if such a query is even possible. If it is I'm guessing at least 4 tables and will be stretching my SQL...
@PJH isn't an admin and can create badges...?
What made you think I wasn't an
admin
? I don't administer the server, but as far as DC is concerned I have access to everything (especially admin functions) on the web UI.He's a forum admin, but not a server admin. So he can do anything via the forum software, but can't do things like see the database directly.
... or that. Which is better phrased.
-
The list isn't exactly private. But I'll admit the link isn't that visible
The list of administrators (and moderators) is also available from the About option in the hamburger menu.

Someone tried that and expected it to work??
=-O

/me shyly raises her hand.

Someone tried that and expected it to work??
Stranger things have happened. How could I not click something like that?
-
Someone tried that and expected it to work??
With all the PDA going around, I wouldn't even raise an eyebrow if it did.
-
If it's not marked NSFW, it should be opened at work, right?
-
Maybe we should get all our friends to join this place?
Do you want to keep them as friends?
-
On the biggest screen possible in the most public area possible.
Unless you're a weasel, because it's definitely Not Safe For Weasels.
