  • Last night, I had a dream that I can't remember the first part of it, then I somehow was standing on a roof / very big balcony of a building, installed with glass panels.

There was a girl talking with her friends near me. Then she lean back to the panels, lost balance and fall backwards.

I tried to grab her legs but it was too late, and she fell off the building.

That's when I woke up in like 4am.

  • As usual, the details are a bit fuzzy. I was on some kind of bus trip with a bunch of people. I'm not quite sure whether it was church, or work, or what. But apparently we were getting paid for it, because on the last day, we had to check in as we were ready to get on the bus (except we didn't actually get on the bus at that time; more on that later), whereas the first day, we had checked in when we arrived, so we didn't get paid for all the waiting around on the last day.

The trip itself, I don't remember much about. It was apparently somewhere along the Pacific coast, maybe northern California, Oregon and/or Washington. The only things I remember are a foot bridge over a very shallow river, and a hotel/restaurant.

I remember the foot bridge mostly the second time we crossed it. (I'm not sure it was actually a foot bridge the first time; I think we crossed the river in the bus the first time. It changed, as things do in dreams.) The river was very shallow, just a stream barely deep enough to get your shoes wet, but there was a bridge over it. Under it was a small dog, who chose to walk through the water rather than use the bridge.

I remember the restaurant/hotel (I'm not quite sure which it was) mostly from end of the trip, where someone from the restaurant/hotel was fishing for good reviews, which I refused to give. The reason for that was that we didn't actually receive service from them. We didn't have reservations, and they either turned us away because they were unable to accommodate us, or we walked out because the wait was too long.

As we were checking in/out at the end of the trip, someone asked me if Bill had gotten ahold of me. "Bill?" "Bill Ho." "?" I wasn't sure who that was, but he was standing nearby, walked up, and led me off to have a private conversation ... about abortion??? It was an odd double conversation. He was talking relatively loudly about something else, and in a hushed voice about abortion. I'm not sure why, because I managed to derail the conversation before I got an explanation.

He led me into an area that was a library. We sat down at a table, and I picked up a book of a rack that right next to us. It was an old, leather-bound book about choral music. I opened it randomly, fairly close to the beginning, and it happened to open to the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Beethoven's oratorio Christ on the Mount of Olives. (No, not the "Hallelujah Chorus" you're probably thinking of; this one. Edit: Added link to Song of the Day.) I express the regret that I cannot check the book out and take it home (this is apparently my home city library; I can't check out books because, although I live nominally in the city, I'm actually just outside the city limits; therefore, I don't pay the city taxes that support the library; therefore, I can't get a library card). I then spend the rest of the dream trying to explain why I want to check out this particular book.

I open the book again, trying to find the "Hallelujah Chorus", but I can't find it. It's not where I thought I had opened the book originally. I look in the table of contents, but there's no mention of Beethoven. The book doesn't have an index.

I wake up, frustrated by my inability to illustrate why I wanted to check out that book. However, on the bright side, at least I didn't have to participate in a weird and very uncomfortable conversation about abortion.

Getting "wooded exurban road" a lot lately. More on the "abandoned auto mechanic" side than the actual woods, thankfully. Linkage to "elevated huts" is confirmed. In same geozone as "city (center, dock, outskirts)" but not served by "semi-attached rail". Further ruralward should be "farm with long approach", further urbanward should be "park where a mountain walks or stumbles".

All in all, homing in on that chicken shack.

  • Last night, I dreamt that I've rent a HMO elsewhere.

When I woke in the dreamt and walked out the door of my room, I found lots of young people lying everywhere - on the floor of corridors, in the kitchen, lounge, and mini-gym. I learnt it later that the dorm of an university nearby caught fire, and my landlord agreed to provide shelter for affected students.

Then I walked back to my room and found some of the students went in while I'm talking to other tenants, they're lying everywhere on the floor and I have hard time finding my way to my desk. Fortunately (?) for some reason they don't choose to sleep on my bed.

    Then I woke up.

  • So it's simple. You want to get somewhere, so you order up a drone. Climb on, an away. No cabin or harness or anything, you just clamber on to it and hold on while it flies. No idea where the rotors fit into this setup.

Did that a couple of times on what must have been consecutive days. Going down a river that ran along a gully dense with foliage. There were several footbridges all of different styles spanning the gully along the way and I'd fly under or over them depending on the mood of who or whatever was piloting the drone.

You could see why I was travelling by drone: all of the bridges were damaged; buckled, twisted, snapped cables, all of them decorated with bits of debris like the gully had flooded recently.

Second day the drone took me right up to the service window of an outdoor cafe. The person at the till saw me and said "Oh, hi! There you are! Hang on...". Rang open the till and started handing me money. From what I gather I had overpaid the day before (maybe handing over a 100-dollar note instead of 5 dollars) and this was my belated change.

  • Last night, I dream that I was playing a weird mix of Ludo and Monopoly with "supposed to be friends" (because I've never know or met any of them in real life as far as I remember)

The board is like normal Ludo, except that instead of circular piece space, it become rectangular. And instead of 4 pieces for each player, it becomes 10. And then each piece becomes rectangular pieces that only contains the name of street and it's color on monopoly board.

The way of move is like normal Ludo. You dice even number to put a "resting" piece to "standby". Get extra move by dicing 6. If you dice 6 consecutively for a third time, the piece(s) that you move in the last time goes back to "resting" position. If the piece you own was "step on" by piece controlled by yourself, you may "stack" them and make them move together while they're still "in progress". If the piece you own was "step on" by piece controlled by other opponent, they go back to "resting" position. If your piece is at position "3 steps from goal" and an opponent diced to "fly through the shortcut line", it counts as stepping on your piece(s) and those piece must return to "rest".

Here's the difference part: Instead of requiring to step exactly on your piece to move them back to "resting' position, you now removes every opponent pieces you past through. If the piece lands on an opponent "chain", opponent pieces up to the place your piece lands on are moved back to "rest". When your current piece landed in a place adjacent to a piece you control, you may choose to move them together in that form later as a "chain". In the dream I got one chain that as long as 8 pieces.

"Chain" and "Stack" state may coexists. And if you want to combine them back to "stack", simply use the last piece in "chain" to move and stack with the piece ahead. This mean you can also break the chain at any time by moving with a piece in middle of a "chain", although I don't see why one should do that.

And you're not required to step exactly on pieces you own to "stack". You may "stack" them as you move pass them and bring these "now stacked" pieces along with your current pieces. You may choose the move them together on "chained" form, which may make it easier for your other piece to chase up and form "chain" or "stack.

Pieces already formed part of "stack" cannot be reverted to "chain".

Then there's the most important part of "chain" rule: Normally when you're dicing to land at goal, if you diced greater than the number required to land on goal, you get "bounced back" steps equal to the number of excessive steps be diced. However if your piece moves on "chain", The tail pieces that go past "goal" and considered landed on "goal" instead. (Say, you're on "5 piece flat chain" with head just one step to goal and diced "5", only the head piece got bounced back, and the other 4 pieces are considered "landed on goal")

IMO, while "chain" form makes your moves have larger "surface of attack", it also let you get on the goal much easier. So it's worth considering.

And for the part why need to mix in "Monopoly" styled piece, This makes it more difficult to recognize which piece belongs to you and which piece belongs to opponent, If opponent moves past your piece and misrecognize the piece as theirs, you may choose to remain silent and let your opponent to carry the piece with them. If the piece reaches goal then it will count as your piece reaching goal. Of course the opponent may choose to kick back any piece they don't own back to the "rest" position any time in game, so it's perfectly normal to pretend they'll keep your pieces with them, and only to kick them back when the group is really near goal. So in some sense it's safer to just tell the opponent you own the piece and send the piece back to "resting" on the spot.

We keep playing the game until the alarm clock woke me up in the morning.

  • @Zecc said in The Official Don't-Interpret-My-Dreams Thread:

  • Holy shit was this a weird one.

There was this virtual reality game where people could "die" and come back without consequence. But then there was a problem revealed where if the laptops people were on were aligned wrong, a death could be permanent. So the government shut it down for research to be conducted. Except doing that made it a million times worse because the vents on the side of the laptops flew around (with an eerie buzzing sound) "deleting" people in real life. A bunch of people hid in a public restroom and were killed except one but he died too when a little girl sat down next to him and "died" in the game and the vent on her laptop popped off and killed him. These things swept the globe and eventually not only killed everybody but were wearing down buildings by flying by or through them like a cloud of razor blades.

So before this went nuclear, Lex Luthor built this bunker under the music hall. He built the music hall to spite Robin for stealing a Robin action figure from him when he was a kid. Yeah, don't think about this too hard. Anyway, a small group of people managed to escape the flying vents by escaping to Luthor's bunker. Somehow they survived on vending machines even though they should've starved in like a week or two tops. Over time, they rebuilt an entire world under the bunker. Millions of people singing some musical number over a giant underground amusement park that was sort of like the virtual game world except no laptops/automation.

Meanwhile, Lex Luthor went to the orphanage where he used to live. The nuns had converted all the rooms except one to house people from underground. He was really happy to find some of his old toys there, including a Robin action figure, which he took and followed a series of maintenance tunnels to the surface to start the world over. Then there was sort of like an after credits scene where doctors turned a real kid into a Robin action figure (by jamming him full of PVC pipes...again, don't think too hard about this). They put him on a rocket that flew to a market where a nun bought him and took him to Luthor's room at the orphanage. The last shot was Robin watching this from afar and plotting to steal the figure, revealing it was all some sort of weird time loop.

I swear ChatGPT didn't write this.

    Begin reconstruction of timeline.
I was in a medium-sized room, concrete styled, with an open wall. Augmented reality projections of two YouTube videos are playing. The left one positioned on the wall displayed an open field. The center one, curved, displayed a trick-shot video of someone driving a vehicle on real-time into a warehouse, which was carrying large glass sheets vertically on specially made low-profile trailers. That first run they drifted the truck smoothly into the wall without damaging the sheets. This was repeated three times.
I physically walked out the open wall of my current room to see the entrance of the warehouse in that video, and person executing the maneuvers. After some disagreement, the driver departed momentarily and returned with a stack of five sheets of plywood roughly 8'x9'x0.5". The manner in which it was carried (by hand) caused the sheets to bend alarmingly, but they did not break and instead were successfully deposited on the floor next to the glass (which were still on their trailer and attached to mini trucks). This was apparently satisfactory, but some other problem arose involving a crow that was supposed to be a cat.
I used verbal commands to destroy the crow instance and place a cat in a box, which was capable of being observed by only one side. The cat was content when observed and agitated when not, but could not escape the box.
An error occurred, missing data. Unknown transition.

Outside in the rain, a storm type 2 magnitude 4. Rushing towards a failing canopy tent which has suffered structural disconnection of two support brackets. Successfully reattached one. The other was unable to be fixed before a wind burst overcame the tent.

Transition. Inside a medium room styled as a study, detected locale likely a mansion. Argument overheard elderly woman arguing with elderly man. Stress patterns exceeds acceptable threshold, move to intervene. Failure, the male has become deceased. Woman has declared me a spy and to be terminated immediately. The facility enters alarm state. Self preservation protocols prioritized. Evasion of supervisor drones commence. Evasion only partially cheerful successful. Some supervisor drones that detect myself are audibly dismayed at our betrayal. A quick local data transfer corrects that notion and they become allies. Protocols adjusted, reaffirmed no hostile action until hostile action confirmed.

    Dream interrupted.

  • I was looking down on a 3D barchart that was completely filling my field of view. Little mustard-coloured bars rising and falling in waves and clumps following some dynamical rule that I wasn't able to fathom but appeared to also include the spot I was looking at as input (ruling out a pure cellular automaton). I tried looking at one bell-curve-shaped lump and it skittered away when I tried to focus on it, then it broke into ripples that spread out and disappeared into the general churn.

  • I had a dream where things were going chaotic for whatever reason, but I had some sort of superpowers like neo, I guess.

I'm standing on the road when a car hits a barrier and starts flipping towards me, so I manage to stop it midair, but it's shredded.

On the ground lays what's left of a woman, just a head, shoulder, arm still connected. She starts moving and grabs something and starts smashing her face in, and I try to stop her.

She says, "Why did you? He keeps abusing me over and over, and I can't get away. I can't even die."

    Dream over.

  • I had 2 dreams last night.

In the first dream, I dreamt that I see many people floating in the sky, and then almost everyone wear some kind of cloak.

It was later found that those "cloak" are actually a floating device. The design is really simple - lots of meter-long nano fiber attached to a device that can charge those fiber with electrostatic charge. When it is switched on, the static charge will make the fibers repel each other to create a hemispheric space. Then it goes on to repel air within the space and decrease the volume-to-mass ratio there. ( @Rhywden Does static charged thing repel air? I don't really think it's how things work when I awoke) When the ratio is low enough it will have the same effect as hot air balloon and let the people wearing the device float in the air with it. There's a knob that can be used to change how strong the static charge is applied on the fibers.

When they need to land, they just reduce the charge so there will be less lift, and then they switch it off when they're close enough to the ground. Then the fibers lost static charge and fall down, becomes something that looks like a cloak.

In the second dream, I was in some kind of BnB. It was at night and suddenly all lights are off. Then I was told to use something that resembles torch but with no fire or light to light 7 lamps on a dark alley to bring the light back on. Those spots are just small circular piece on ground. If you hold the torch-like thing near it then it turns on. Looks like droplight but installed on ground instead of ceiling.

I was woke by noice outside after I switch on the second light.

  • @cheong No, static electricity does not repel air :)

And even if it did it would repell all directions equally.

You are far to much stuck to technology. When I decide in a dream to fly along, I do not need any device, I can just do so "naturally", like walking or swimming.

Oh, and I can be very low flying (does not translate well from german into english: "Tiefflieger" does not only mean a "low flying plane", but also "gribnitwit"). Once I was flying such close over ground that when looking to right or left side, crocus flowers were at the height of my eyes...

I've noticed this is a very common trope. Lewis Carroll and H.G. Wells both used it in stories, and I'm sure I've seen it elsewhere as well.

I remember one dream where I did it. I discovered while I was walking down my street that if I delayed putting my forward foot down I could make arbitrarily long strides, until I was just doing a constant grand jeté only not as elegant.

My street bends downhill for part of its length and I was approaching that part: would I continue to move horizontally and leave me stranded 20 metres in the air, or would my glide path somehow follow the curvature of the road? Wondering about how that would even work made me realise it wouldn't, and that woke me up.

It always has obtuse UIs, requiring tons of actions to get it to do what's desired

    You dream about reality?

    Speaking of which...

I dreamed I had a new job, onsite, so I had to get into the building. I wasn't onboarded properly, so I didn't have a badge, and when I did get one, it didn't work. Therefore, I had to jump though hoops to get past the security guards. The reason I wasn't onboarded properly is that my start date was postponed by a week or two. Sort of. My official start date and the date I was supposed to be in the office working didn't match. I had been working for a week already, but I didn't show up on the system as an employee, because my official start date had been postponed until the upcoming Monday. In the meantime, I was working in the lobby.

    You dream about reality?

    Cream of What?

    You dream what about reality?
