Status: Customer received a batch of computers from IT. Customer did not properly track computers for weeks before attempting to hook them up. Customer disappeared a few power supplies at some point. Customer comes to IT asking for replacements. IT says "we don't have extras of that wattage, come back later."
Five months later
Apparently the supplier that IT uses is super backordered on these power supplies and didn't really tell anyone until a month ago, with the option to either cancel the order or wait for them to become available in six months.
Enter me, a voice of insanity:
I’m pondering it has been well past the time they would have been kicked from the network for being offline. It may be more prudent to provide replacement machines (with the appropriate power supplies) from stock as a rebuild/hotswap and keep the affected ones in [IT services and logistics] stock, so that the customer can be resolved while the supply issues are resolved.
Have the impacted units been identified at all in all this?
It is my opinion that it is well within our ability to resolve the customer’s current underlying issue while our problems can remain our problems.
I have no idea how it is ever considered acceptable to keep an issue like this open for so long with so much hemming and hawing, but then again I'm not at all surprised or upset.

Yep, iPod video 80Gb with rockbox installed. Has eCore before eCores were cool. 😏

@Tsaukpaetra I had tried Rockbox on my 4G ipod, but was not impressed with it and didn't bother for the video one.

Though, I probably got more stares for carrying around a hacked NiCD battery pack with a wire going into it....

Oh hoohohohoo, boi let me tell you. The teachers were so fuckin' hyped they didn't have to read my manuscript they gleefully petitioned the vice principal for an exception (as "assistive technology" wasn't an idea yet).
Sometimes I wish I had kept the agreement pages as part of the nostalgia protocol. Alas, that was before such had been implemented.

@Arantor 140k views already, it's almost halfway toward his usual ZP viewership. Their Patreon is also up to 30k/month, most of it before they had any content yet. It's shocking to me how well they're doing right off the bat.
The funny thing is that if you search "fully ramblomatic" on YouTube, this video is completely missing. You get Yahtzee's old pre-ZP channel, some unrelated ZP videos, and a bunch of random videos from random small channels reporting on the The Escapist situation, some of them even posted in the last few hours so it's not a freshness issue. The algorithm refuses to pick up this video for some reason. The channel itself gets no such treatment - if you search "second wind" it's the top result.

It saved many seconds. It saved even more when I upgraded to 95.
Turns out, most of the time I didn't really need any kind of text formatting anyways, so the overhead of a word processor beyond flat text was resource waste.

You're lucky I don't have it anymore otherwise I'd pull it out for show and tell!
If memory serves, it had a dozen or so megabytes of ram, a few hundred megabytes of screaming spinning rust, a Genuine Intel x86 something-or-other, and a trackball!
...
Come to think of it, I did recently bin the battery pack assembly a few months ago. Turns out, NiCD doesn't really have a lot of cycles before it wears out too much to be useful.

I thought i knew how to use an abacus. But then I realized the algorithm and codec tables are actually garbage data and likely not correct.
Double checking....
Edit: ah, yes, the codec is stable, but only core-basic algorithms are present and extremely non optimized.
-
@Tsaukpaetra By codec I assume you mean H264 to watch a youtube tutorial on how to use an abacus

Actually no. I'm talking about the in-memory translation mapping from virtual-physical interpretation to metadata-interpolation-grid value object, as observed (or imagined) by a physical unit.
In other words "what to the positions mean?"

How complicated was that? I don't remember, but kind of assume that "booting into windows" was really nothing more than a win.exe at the end of your autoexec.bat.

Status: Why must I be so attracted by odd and unusual things? The M3 Pro is being unusually seductive by offering 18 or 36 GB of RAM as options rather than the more normal 16 and 32. But would also be a lot more expensive for new laptop as I'd eye the 16" black monster if going for that, as the regular M3 is just an option for 14" and not in black. Rrgh.
