And before anyone asks, yes we do have backups, but the insidious thing here is that we probably won't know we need to restore until someone finds bad data weeks in the future. And obviously the more time passes the more collateral damage from restoring a backup.
-
Anyway, things are probably fine.

On Microsoft’s forum-or-whatever, nobody has ever gotten a useful answer. Nothing’s going to change that.
That's not true. Sometimes there are useful answers. You can tell because the person posting the answer is a random guy, never a MS MVP.

These are not mutually exclusive. MS MVPs can be very random.

Why do you think I keep telling you to increase your day rate. You're going to be ruined if you stay there.
*edit if it makes you feel any better, Adobe probably hasn't gotten competent enough to offer a way to kill a groovy script started in the webconsole. When I last worked on AEM you had to take down the entire instance to stop it.
Two fun facts: a call to system.ext() in the web console would kill the jvm. It's actually really easy to protect against that but they didn't implement it. The second is if your publishers aren't hidden behind a cdn the web console is probably available publically in an unprotected state. a third for fun: akami don't like adobe but love their money if you're the chatty type.

I'm assuming you've already tried the "my window opened off-screen, what do?". Trick?
Since I've swapped my portrait and landscape monitors, I've been having to do that a lot. That's one thing I put into my programs really early - make sure you start completely within the limits of a monitor.

I don't blame our users. We're a small not-very-technical company and doing our best!

A good thing to do when you remember your position. You can do too little, though: one of my game launchers annoys me because it doesn't remember its last position. Instead, it opens its window centered on whatever monitor the cursor is on...after what can be a lengthy loading delay. More than once I've gone to switch the video or music playing on the other monitor and had that interrupted by the window opening on top of whatever I was doing. Then I have to drag the stupid window back to the main one so the game won't decide to open on the other monitor too.

Status: I absolutely hate when nearly three hours of careful stealth is ruined by a graphical glitch that turns the whole screen permanently white and thus inevitably leads to being discovered and killed because there's no fricken' way you're going to battle blind like that.... 😖
Also, my G key is destroyed. No relation to the above, it just kinda snapped.

Meta Quest 3 shipped. Now to see if I have my own DDF.
DDF debunked. It's at my doorstep.
Now if I could only get to my doorstep. I'm stuck at the office.
-
@error I had a typical non-DDF. Ordered on Saturday evening, shop said it's be Tuesday, but DHL picked it up from them Sunday afternoon and it was at my door around lunchtime on Monday.

One should never taunt the DDF before one has physically opened the parcel and checked that the contents match what has been ordered. Just sayin'.

Ah, like when my brother ordered a 60" TV and the box contained a 50" TV of the same brand?

I'm about to hit my cap of accrued PTO. I should take a vacation.
I wonder if they'd let me take a full month off.

The physical version is cheaper than the digital download code. The one I can’t loan to friends, resell, or anything like that. And which is obviously cheaper to produce and distribute, too.
In what mad world does this make sense?
On Amazon.ca the physical and digital versions cost the same, but also:
What a bargain!

STATUS I wonder if amazon is feeling the pinch. They've started charging for expedited delivery. Ads on prime video soon too. I guess AWS isn't the cash cow it use to be or someone is trying to make the loss leaders less lossy.
*edit just got an email from the accountant. I'm paying a grand less tax next year!
-
@DogsB either that or they just want everything to make profit outright.
-
@Arantor It's not like Amazon has an algorithm to maximize their profits.

It is strange how there is seemingly no correlation between the amount of effort a feature takes and the amount of appreciation it elicits.
