I think this is false advertising.
From the front, looks like a different brand entirely. On the back, some of the copy matches the site and there's a UPC sticker with the right details. But I'm not sure how "manufactured exclusively by Brotect at our facility in Germany" jives with "manufactured by ScreenShield Group Ltd" and made in Australia. Also the cutout at the top is different from what was pictured (may still work but I was worried when a later search randomly brought up "XCover FieldPro AT&T" after I'd ordered from the results for "XCover FieldPro"). Frankly I'm surprised there are actually three in the package, as well as even more skeptical that tempered glass really can be flexible (it's not a film, thankfully, but the tempered glass on my Switch, iPhone, and previous Galaxy were more like what I expected from ordering tempered glass).

The whole thing, including the lack of anything approaching non-obscene humor. And the art style. And the puerile self-absorption. And the obnoxious characters without a shred of anything approaching redeeming value. When every single person is some combination of obnoxious and evil and stupid...

I don't find any of it funny, so yes?
-
It was supposed to be funny? I just assumed it was a giant practical joke made by the TV industry about how stupid they thought the audience was.
-
@loopback0 Actually then the answer is probably no. I would presume co-creators have a similar sense of humor so you’d have to oust both of them for a shot at more than token changes. Warner, so far, isn’t as suicidal as Disney but they’re working on it.

BBT had (a few, a very few) amusing moments. I've yet to see a single clip of RaM that even had a shred of anything other than ugly.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny – they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots – of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools… how I pity them.

@kazitor we really need new and better copypasta. Feels like creativity has dropped off.
-
@kazitor I award you two out of a possible 5. Half point bonus for conflating knowledge and IQ when engaging smug mode.

So you've never seen the Pickle Rick episode. Or the one where Rick got into a feud with the devil (Something Ricked This Way Comes). Or the microverse episode (The Ricks Must Be Crazy). The couple set in the Citadel, with Rick and Morty as cops and the evil Morty running for president, were funny too.
But then I like the show in spite of a few gross episodes so YMMV.
Edit: I wasn't too bothered by BBT either but I liked it more before it became all about their wives and what a loser the comic shop owner was (that part actually upset me because it hit a little too close to home). Sort of like how Perfect Strangers was funny until Larry and Balky got girlfriends and it became just another sitcom.

Wait... which ones?
Well, there was the one with the giant mutant sperm, another about the overstimulated dragons, and Rick Potion #9 for starters. Depending on how wide your net is, plenty of episodes have something to object to. The lyrics to Rick's "get shwifty" song, the Knights of the Sun and their "entry fee," the pretty gruesome deaths in Vindicators 3, the toxic clones (which were supposed to look disgusting), throwaway jokes in any of the interdimensional cable episodes, etc.
-
-
@Zenith I have actually seen parts of Pickle Rick. The parts people picked as being the best. They weren't. Puerile, gross-out "humor" with characters devoid of even a shred of likeability. It's basically "humor as conceived by middle school boys who have never read anything of value nor watched anything but South Park and Family Guy." And lacks the social commentary of the former and isn't even as witty (and that's a very low bar to clear) as the latter.

Two = ? Not bad.
It’s not my copypasta, though. It was just too relevant to leave the opportunity unrealised.

You also need to have watched the show. The closest I've ever got was a few still images from it on the internet, and I can assure you that the humour doesn't come across there. It's all just passed me by, but then again, so too has The Kardashians so I'm still coming out ahead.

No.

@kazitor that does sound pretty close to how it’s been described to me by people (well, 1 or 2) who said I should watch it, I’d surely like it.
As mentioned before, I liked BBT, and I can’t concur the criticism of “that’s not what nerds actually are”. It did hit quite a few points pretty close, while being humorous but generally likable about it, and it did have mostly solid actual scientific background when it popped it. Well, in the beginning at least. I finished it, but I understand the “until they focused on the wives” criticism.
I’ve also watched Drawn Together and thought there’s quite a few hilarious episodes, while still being heinously gross. So that alone wouldn’t stop me.Still, the maybe 1.5 episodes of Rick and Morty I watched did absolutely nothing for me.
-
@topspin that’s the gigantic problem with Rick and Morty. Most of it is c tier stuff and a lot of the later series is in joke meta humour that requires you to have watched that garbage.
The last season was a bit of a dud too. Could have done an edit with a one hour special and it would have been good. Instead it was three hour shitfest with a good bit here and there.
Someone might do a two hour superedit of just the good storyline stuff one day but other than that I can’t recommend. Unless you’re horribly hungover and want to punish yourself.
-
@Benjamin-Hall I'll go out on a limb here and say I bet Rick shitting on the idea of organized religion didn't exactly help win you over either.
@topspin I liked Drawn Together too, except for the Betty Boop lookalike getting the Meg Griffin treatment. That sort of humor I can only take in small doses.

That actually had nothing to do with it. Because it had lost me from about 2 seconds in.

mocking out database calls to test code makes my brain hurt..... doubly so in typescript

i pushed back as well, but my boss for this project wouldn't let me skive off and omit them. I tried to tell her that that means she has to write the tests because she is me and this is a personal project, but that didn't help and she still insists.

@accalia i have actually found and fixed a bug that was annoying me for ages where i was double counting a sum when doing a database operation leading me to have to do a divide by two to correct it.
now i know how i was double counting that ONE record out of 90k and have fixed the bug, allowing me to remove the unnecessary hard coded divide by two statement.

Status: Morning meeting. The guy who we talking to over link is doing an obvious background replacement. To some horrible open office layout and a panorama window showing a cityscape that does not exist in Sweden. And I'm like, why not replace it with something pretty? Why pick what is likely a more boring background than whatever room he's in?

Yeah, I like to bash on the TDD crowd but you really don’t understand your code until you pick it apart with unit tests.
