So I was off work with a migraine yesterday. In my absence, a certain coworker of mine decided to take it upon themselves to mess around with the build server and get another build up and running. Fair enough, that's what it's there for.
We've got a Heath Robinson-esque SVN and Jenkins CI and ALM thing going on because we're a) tighter than a duck's arse and b) don't trust Microsoft at all, even though 90% of our dev work uses Microsoft tools, but whatever. In this homebrew CI setup we've got further .proj files that tell the build server where all the dependencies are because the paths are different to our local paths. Makes sense, but also means we have to manually edit our own project files so the check in works.
My colleague decided independently that my configurations that work 100% correctly on the build server and locally are plain wrong and altered them to what she thought they should be, thus breaking my build and some other builds dependent on mine.. Before I've even sat down this morning she's waiting at my desk to tell me about the broken build and that I need to fix it. She couldn't tell me what she'd changed, didn't have a list of affected projects, couldn't even tell me what projects she altered, just that "it doesn't work now". I had to look at third party references to all 17 projects in my solutionto work out what was wrong.
All I had to do was ask our build server config guy what was wrong who incidentally sits directly next to her. He takes one look at the file, cuts and pastes one entry from one line to another, checks it in and it works. I asked her why she didn't talk to him in the first place, and she just said "they're your projects and it's your build.."
Yes, which you broke, for fuck's sake. Ever heard of initiative or responsibility? Do you even do your own fucking?Besides which, you simply went home after turning an automated build from green to red without even so much as telling the build server guy and without reverting to a previously working version. You fucked off home and expected somebody else to unfuck your fail.
If I was in charge of dev, you'd be making a trip to the Provost Sergeant for that. His beasting drum needs painting with a tiny brush and after you're done, you can carry his truck battery around with you all day. The battery that weighs 30 pounds and has "DICK" written on it in big letters.

So, you fancy a date with her?

Make it clear, men. Fuck or no fuck? "Fuck no" is just confusing the issue.

Not to mention poor word choice using the word but, which sounds just like the word butt, which just happens to change the context quite nicely, which I can fully understand why you would be against that too.@Severity One said:

What are you talking about?
Oh I Googled it. Heath Robinson is the British knock-off of Rube Goldberg.

How can you in one sentence say it's a Rube Goldberg process, say that the paths in the project files need to be manually edited every time you check one in, and then in the same paragraph say it "makes sense"? WTF?

Googled it again: the Military Police? The MPs are in charge of software development in the UK? WTF?!

I Googled "beasting drum", I got fucking nothing except this music track which doesn't help.

I understand there's some cultural issues here. Any military references are from the TV series Bad Lads Army Officer Class - can be found on youtube.
As for Heath Robinson - have a look at some of the contraptions he came up with and you've got our build server, just not as good.

I'll get right on that.

Yeah they're all Rube Goldberg devices.

Wikipedia says it's the other way round.I think every television show in the US is a knock-off from another country. Americans just don't know it.

Wikipedia says a lot of things.
And it is actually right about a remarkable number of them despite the fundamentally dodgy concept behind the site...

It's all about the volume. The site is so unbelievably dodge, that the dodgy integer overflowed, and swung back to reputable. If they get too reputable, though, it'll swing back across "0", and re-enter Dodgy.

Seems pretty clear to me that you can: just pay two prostitutes (any gender you want) to do their thing with each other, without you being involved.

That's easy - we've got a plain-text column for just that purpose.

FTFY, after all, 13 is no punishment at all for the clusterfuck that ensued because of her dumbassery.

Heh heh heh very good, that had me laughing out loud. I'd just finished reading that other thread.
