I was just told...

To install IE6 on a Windows XP machine.

Was it to test a web page that has to be compatible with IE6? I had an internship where I had to write a simple web app which had to work in IE5 and up. I really hope that's why it's needed...

Puppies
I am going to install it.

You must be new here -- oh wait.

No.

Yes.

Is it at least on a VM? Or will this actually infect real hardware?

I once lost a debate with my boss when he told me that I have to alter my app to accomodate IE6, even though all the clients (three machines) are internal.
Yes.@serguey123 said:

I had two questions for him. One: why the hell are there still machines on the internal network with IE6? And two: do you really think it's faster to make the changes, then test and debug or just install IE 8/9 on the three machines we were worried about. Guess which one he chose. And as a bonus, one day after I deployed the changes, those machines were upgraded to IE9.
Meh, the cheques clear...

Poor poor soul... Next thing, they'll ask you to implement some sort of ActiveX crap.

any competent programmer can repeat/reorganize those characters to get in binary format the code required to build a firmware update that, if published properly to the right model of ice cream machine, will output my reply in chocolate letter over vanilla.

note: this thread is going nowhere but IMHO it's still better than the original subject, something about installing IE6 I think (but I won't even scroll to verify).

I thought he took a summer job to lawn-mower a boy, because the woodchipper's on vacation.
