Half&half is better straight up, as is coffee. Note that powdered coffee can be improved by substituting brewed coffee for the water, although it's also improved by prompt disposal.

For reference, this is the unit I'm using:
Essentially, the LED dimming circuit is not isolated from the audio lines properly and they induce a whine in the friggin audio jacks. đ But it is only noticeable in the mic line!
Which is a shame because otherwise it has been a pretty decent keyboard.... đ

Status: Mom is going on a 3 week holiday in the US today.
Since roaming is insanely expensive and there doesn't seem to be a cheap 10âŹ/month pre-paid options like here to just buy a throw-away SIM, I figured I'd book her the "50 MB data world roaming (1 week)" option from her provider. At just 5⏠that seemed quite cheap and should be good enough for basically unlimited texting (whatsapp) and maybe a voice call or two. Right?
Well, no. She just arrived and sent me a message that she's still at the airport getting through border control. I replied, also with a text message, which she didn't immediately receive (bad phone reception I guess). Out of curiosity, I checked her account page and in the few minutes since she's been her phone had already used up 3MB of those. A short time later when it indicated she's got my message, it was already down to 45MB left (i.e. 5MB spent).Stupid bloated phones and their stupid garbage software. What idiotic shit decides to continuously waste data at such a high rate while on roaming? Probably some shitty weather thing or whatever garbage Chinese Android stuff ships with.

If you enable data roaming, apps just use data at whatever rate they would normally when not roaming.
Ideally there should be a setting which enables data roaming but reduces background data (like when using the low power mode on iOS) but there isn't because
-
@loopback0 Iâm pretty sure that wouldnât be true on iOS, which even asks me things like âdownload this app over mobile data or on WiFi laterâ. But thatâs because iOS is quite less retarded.
ETA: WhatsApp specifically I had set up to not automatically load media and it had distinct options for WiFi, mobile, and mobile roaming. I had also disabled background email checking. But apparently havenât disabled whatever garbage is currently running.

If you allow an app on iOS to download over mobile data, it behaves exactly the same IME when roaming as it does when not roaming if you enable data roaming.
-
@loopback0 on iOS I have apps set to not do shit at all in the background. And the OS itself is smart enough to reduce data usage on mobile (although youâre right that thatâs irrespective of roaming).
-
@topspin said in The Official Status Thread:

This is the key part - I assume Android works the same but I haven't had an Android phone for like 7 years so wouldn't say for sure.
iOS defaults to off for data roaming but no idea if that's true for Android or its 49054 variants either.

data roaming
Because of the wonderfully competitive and not ass-backwards mobile industry in Canada, I have to keep data roaming on, in case I'm ever out of the service area of my regional provider but within the coverage of one of the partner networks. It's free, which is a better deal than some other providers, but there's no distinction between roaming on the partner networks and e.g. roaming internationally. If I get too close to the US border, or travel somewhere and forget to turn it off, it'll happily keep doing whatever it does in the background and rack up massive roaming data bills

I do not know your mum's android version. But on my phone, I can only chose between giving apps data access on mobile or not - no differentiation between "roaming" and "local".
I hardly ever use my pre-paid 150 MB per month (at 2âŹ).
