So is the 11.2G.
I'm used to processes a lot bigger than that so I didn't spot it. (If you're inverting matrices with billions of elements in them, you're going to take a lot of space one way or another.)
Oh yeah, 11.2GB isn't that much if you crunch numbers, but this is the IDE itself and not the debugee. Right now it's using 800MB and another 400MB for
clangbackend
.

Looks like github is very unhappy this morning... I can update via
git pull
, but the website is completely hosed with a 500 error. https://www.githubstatus.com/ is loaded with "degraded performance" statuses.
-
@dcon A
git push
just failed for me with an internal server error. That looks pretty bad.

Still can’t believe how they can be successful being so wrong.

@topspin There was a Discofeature that would take an MD5 hash of some text in your post (for ), and sometimes that would show up. The most well known one was
***\****
which would turn into a bolded, italicized MD5 hash of*
. This further led to the discovery that you could pre-load your post with text that would get digested, and any occurrences of the MD5 hash of that text would be replaced by the original text. Needless to say, this was not intended behaviour. As a side effect, certain users with short usernames that couldn't be @mentioned (another Discourse limitation), would get notifications for @(the hash of their username) if you exploited this bug.
-
@hungrier have you tried hiring someone who can define a grammar?
-
@topspin Well, that eliminates anyone who speaks English.

***\*
in your post, it showed up as 9c8e7057f60cc6 AND WOULD MAKE THE NEXT2329 CHARACTERS OF YOUR POST DISAPPEAR.No, actually, the best part was Coding Horror's reaction of CLOSED_WONTFIX with a recommended workaround of
___\*___

.Then @sam made a fix for this rejected bug report as a Christmas present.

Found the original post in which I discovered the bug: https://what.thedailywtf.com/post/406048
...oh, ninja'd. But still gonna post because I had to put 29 spaces inbetween
*
and\*
above to get italic whoosh surrounded by spaces. And can't get the ending*
to italic. And the bug thread: https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/13851/cannot-escape-in-bolditalic-markdown
And a follow-up bug thread: https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/16650/markdown-war-karound-s-md5-strikes-back
And another follow-up bug thread: https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/18753/even-more-discomd5-nonsense
There was more discussion on Dicksauce forum but those threads got auto-deleted for obvious reasons.
Sadly, nobody thought of screenshotting this glorious trainwreck.

Status: The backend is massaged enough that I feel comfortable at least starting the frontend rework.
This far I added the calls to get the event info, which badge contexts are available, and partially get the badge listings!
So basically 19 percent back to feature parity already!
Might get to 43 percent by end of tomorrow when I translocate the "Contact Information" to the end of the registration process, adjust the questionnaire piece, and fix the addons functionality.

Modern shavers suck. Try a classic safety razor.

No, but there's a matching $70 screwdriver (sold separately).

This world can be. Let the fucker grow to the point it falls out at. Head hair can be corrected for with a completely algoristic occasional pass with clippers to remove.
If you tend to the Chopinesque with facial hair, it minimizes the fire and bird habitat hazards admittedly present in this strategy.

It actually looks like a very decent product. And I'm in need of a new laptop carrying implement anyway. I've had several bags and backpacks rip up over the years in various ways, so paying one day's worth of salary for something that will last a decade or more, and is also very functional, sounds like a good deal. And supporting one of my favorite content creators is a cherry on top.

Looks decent. But also crazy expensive, you can have top of the line Wolfskin for half that.
-
@MrL but no bathwater
-
@MrL but can you tow a car with a Wolfskin? I have no doubt there are other, more affordable bags that are as functional and fairly durable from reputable brands. But here's a thing. They're in a bag-selling business. LMG isn't. LMG doesn't care if people stop buying backpacks after a while. The usual "we cannot make things too timeless or we go out of business" doesn't apply. It's a gag item as much as a utility tool. Personally, I trust him he actually tried ripping that backpack apart - definitely more than I trust designer bag salesmen. Also, I owe him for all the YT ads I blocked.

Why would you want to tow a car with your backpack? I understand durability, but going overboard with it brings no value.

Ripping apart tests nothing, long duration stress resistance is where it's at.

You owe him nothing. Fuck ads and people living off them.
I'm not saying don't do it. The bag looks like a solid purchase. It's just expensive, which is fine.

Unless you're carrying 20 kilograms of assorted electronics and non-electronics, take it on and off all the time, and you're not particularly gentle about it. I don't use a backpack often, but when I do...
I once scared the shit out of a bus driver because I turned around too fast when exiting and my backpack hit his plastic window.

status we have to ban authors from reusing titles for books. the book “who goes there” has hit the public domain, so I thought I would be cheap and download it there to read again. I'm currently reading the most awkward wartime romance I've encountered.
