This is the Windows 10 thread. Also we were promised there would be no Windows 11.
They way things are looking, I'm investing into this thread ahead of time.

Microsoft has a history of bad naming decisions. Just look at the Xbox.
(Also: my college roommate thought that Win2000 was the direct successor of Win98, when Win98's successor was actually WinME.)

This would imply that WinME was able to be operated on by the word
actually
, which is uncommon.

So it appears the window theme is getting rounded edges again. Who'da thunkit?

In a better universe that would be true. 2000 was more solid than xp but had shit gaming support so I had to jump. Its how I feel about Debian now.
10 wasn't that bad once I discovered choco and found a good desktop replacement. I suspect its how I'm going to feel 11.

Yeah, for some things it didn't even take two versions.

Not stupid enough. The marketing geniuses at MS surely can cram in more of their random product names.
Which makes me wonder, is that really as stupid as I (and probably everybody else) think it is and only MS marketing refuse to realize this, or does that actually work out for them? Presumably at the level of idiots that also buy into IBM drivel.

Well once I switched to ambicyclic redirected iterative graph structs it was concluded the amount wasn't nearly as important as what was done with it.

TL;DR Windows Elephant's scheduler appears to recognize Intel's attempt at big.LITTLE (some hungry cores with SMT + some shitty cores without) and make more efficient use of them.

(Also: my college roommate thought that Win2000 was the direct successor of Win98, when Win98's successor was actually WinME.)
Microsoft's entire history with Windows has been like some sort of bizarre ADD nightmare.
Let's use standard version numbers like all software.
No, let's use the year of release.
No, let's use meaningless names. XP! Vista!
Back to version numbers.
Except Windows 7 is really Windows 6.1
And Windows 8 is really Windows 6.2
And Windows 10 is really Windows 6.4, no wait, we'll change Windows 10 to version 10.0And then there is the UI.
Flat and square.
No, everything rounded!!
Even more flat and more square!
Back to rounded! What the fucking fuck is wrong with these people? But here's the thing that makes all of this even more ridiculous.
Retail sales of Windows are insignificant. Microsoft makes all of its money (from Windows) from two sources: OEMs who install Windows on the computers they sell and volume licensing to businesses, schools and universities.
Neither of those groups gives two shits about "new features".
If Microsoft had just continued to sell Windows 7 for the last 12 years and did nothing but patch bugs that are found and add support for new hardware (e.g., Windows 7 doesn't natively support USB 3.0) they would sell just as many copies of Windows.
And, they would actually make more money because fewer changes to a product means you need fewer monkeys to fix all the bugs you created by making all those changes.

But not nearly as much PII and other slurp, which is the true purpose of mobile-first, cloud-first.
I would guess that if they hadn't hit pretty much every branch on their way down to present with their bungling and directionlessness, a subscription-only Windows would have already been here.
