Came here to post today's Dilbert. But you already did.

@AgentDenton Huh, TIL. I knew the turboencabulator was technobabble nonsense, but I thought it had come from some classic sci-fi story.

Artisanally-grown, fair trade, organic Japanese mizuna, Moroccan arugula, and Tuscan cavolo nero, shipped fresh to the US by air cargo (with a carbon footprint of roughly 5 kg of CO2 for every kg of salad).

@Applied-Mediocrity it's spinny and pushy in there.

@Applied-Mediocrity said in Found Examples of Word Salad:
It says a lot about our society that instead of "this post is way over my head, but it probably means something to the experts", most people's reaction was "LOL such bullshit, who gave that clown access to this account". Especially since it's not all that hard to understand to start with.
I remember one time in my first year in USA I've done shopping and the total was like $19.78 so I gave the cashier $20 bill and three pennies and they just stared at me like WTF I'm doing.

Even though they would have had a cash register right there to tell them exactly that, I'm guessing.

The cash register doesn't have a button for 1 $20 bill and 3 pennies, it just has a picture of a $20 bill. So after like 20 seconds of staring at you like you have three heads, they'll eventually figure out they can give you back the 3 pennies, press the $20 bill picture, and then get you your 2 dimes and 2 pennies change.

@izzion this is exactly what happened BTW.

Happy FBMAC!
Let's read the CEO's new year message shall we? Or rather I shall translate euh semi-translate because it furiously relies on English buzzwords, I guess that is what you get when going to the UK for your master degree.
Quote of an unknown 'folk wisdom' about a sailing ship. Something something ... pandemic blabla ...
Our Strategic Plan "Top Gear" ... blabla- ... DNA ... #Trust and #Together
- ... Product stratigy ... synergie of our products
- ... futur proof technology ... #Data, #Mobility and #Cloud
- ... work together in a hybrid context ...
More ship references ... Mobile ... KPIs on customer satisfaction ...
Happy Holidays,
M.
CEO of ZCould have been worse I guess ... he could still seek a career in politics ... oh no, he did that before being named CEO ... I guess you can't win them all ...

Well first of all I'd ask her if she was actually going to try cooking or if this is a signal to start the camera, because them's not kitchen attire!
Second, I'd whip out my wooden spoon, because that's not how you handle the stove and someone needs a paddlin'!

@Tsaukpaetra said in Found Examples of Word Salad:

I have occasionally cooked wearing less than that, but I've never done it for the camera. (Nobody'd want to see me wearing less than that. Trust me.)
that's not how you handle the stove
I often put stuff that doesn't really belong on the stove on a burner I'm not going to be using, because I don't have available counter space. (I have a lot of counter space, but not much adjacent to the stove, and all of it, adjacent or not, is cluttered with stuff that really needs to be washed and put away in a cabinet or drawer, so the stove top gets used as a counter.)

On our kitchen, 70% of the available countertop space is used for not-food-not-kitchen-stuff stuff, so I can sympathize.
Pisses me off to no end....

Doesn't matter if they're good or not, someone will be punished!

Why not fix that instead?
(The stove top is convenient occasionally, but I usually only use it for pans or a tray of something about to go in the oven below.)

@boomzilla I'm not sure what maca powder is, and to look it up, but other than that, the smoothie sounds pretty good (but far too much sugar for me have one).
-
Maca, also called Ginseng Andin, Peruvian Ginseng, Lepidium meyenii, or Lepidium peruvianum, is a relative of radish and smells similar to butterscotch.
And because this is the word salad thread:
Maca contains glucotropaeolin, m-methoxyglucotropaeolin, benzyl glucosinolates, polyphenols, (1R,3S)-1-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline-3-carboxylic acid (MTCA) , and p-methoxybenzyl isothiocyanate. Alkamides are also present in maca.

Given the number of languages that Microsoft pretends to offer support in, their website must be about 95% word salad.
Literally every single translation of their Excel Glossary is completely unusable because nobody ever looks at the shit the machine translator vomits. The text itself is OKishš if very microsofty sounding, but the translator completely mangles the only thing you need a glossary for in the first placeâthe keywordsâby trying to separately translate the bold and non-bold portions of the word- Activate
- Unecellule detive
- Unefeuille de tive
- Adresse
- Undossier de dĂŠmarrage au lternate
- Formulerray
- TableaucroisĂŠ dynamique ssociated
- Formatonditional C
- Graphiqueen Medded E
š You still get shit like this occasionally
Tabelle "Excel"
FrĂźher als Excel bezeichnet, kĂśnnen Sie eine Excel erstellen, formatieren und erweitern, um die Daten auf dem Arbeitsblatt zu organisieren.

@LaoC It's really bad when even the glossary is machine translated even for major languages like Spanish, French or German.
Not only should the glossary be deliberately translated by humans, but the translator translating the body of the documentation â whether human or machine â should use the glossary to maintain consistent terminology. Because otherwise it ends up mixing terms and termites and nobody who actually needs the documentation will be able to make the commanders or empennages of it.

OTOH, the purpose of (contemporary) AI is to replace humans, replicate their behavior and extrapolate it to next levels --> in this particular case, I think they pretty much nailed it.
-
@Kamil-Podlesak This is way worse than dumbest human, unless the human utterly and completely stopped giving shit
Microsoft is making sure their documentation continues to be the butt of jokes in the next quarter century.

It's actually a conspiracy to make English the only language in use.

This already happened. The needed quotation marks were secretly added in the 1890s and are now stored in a vault under Westminster Abbey, establishing other extant texts as quotes in an English text.

Given that native English speakers typically speak, at most, one language, that seems like a fair guess.
