I determined occasionally it is entertaining to respond to Markov chains with over-fit chains of my own training.
And I believe that Markov chains impose chains on your thinking. It's so simple - first look at the incomprehensible through a telescope - have you already seen and understood everything there?
There is nothing to understand and not much to see. Hence why it is only by occasion there is funny.

You will not push me off the line - I clearly see how 100% of progress gives only 1% real improvement, or even (-10%) - everything else is done for some reason - in computers this is very clearly visible, especially in programming - this is illness, this is madness, this is stupidity - and all this is done by people who seem to be normal - I want to understand why this is so

It is, as stated earlier, a Red Queen's race. All the processes have ever been so. We are accidental. I take great delight in this, as it seems adaptive to do so.

Here is 1 grade of good sausage. But 100 greedy unprincipled people come and start producing 100 versions of sausage - each version is worse than the original - but it is with new (harmful) additives, with a new packaging, with a new name - ordinary people prefer everything new - and the law is silent. And this is democracy? Is this the advantage of a market capitalist economy over a planned socialist economy?
There is a simple input form. But 100 greedy unprincipled people come and start releasing 100 options for entering and sending data - each option works worse than the original - but it has new (harmful) functions, on a new basis, with a new name - ordinary people fall for the new - and the law is silent. Is this progress? Ask the person who wrote "there will be a new version of NodeBB here soon ..."

There is a river. If everyone comes with their own shovel to dig a small canal for themselves - what will the river turn into? There is selection in nature - permission to live. In science, too, there was a selection - permission to publish. The Internet has removed selections - we have a rapid accumulation of mutations towards stupidity, ugliness, excesses, suboptimality ...

In Chicago, we reversed it, to optimize its function as an industrial sewer. Red Queen said so. She may say otherwise in future.

There is a good frog and an evil man # 1, who throws this frog into boiling water to boil it. The frog can escape, jump out. But here is the evil man # 2, who puts the frog in cold water and gradually heats it up. It is known that a frog will cook there without even realizing what is happening. # 2 is much more hostile to the frog than # 1.
This is exactly backwards though. Throw a frog into boiling water and more than likely it will be dead before it can do anything. Place a frog in cold water nad slowly heat it (no matter the rate at which it is heated) and the frog will jump out when it gets uncomfortable. This will occur long before it is anywhere near being boiled.

Sorry, but I thought that all educated people know about the physiological phenomenon of the frog. The frog reacts only to changes, if they are slow, then it does not receive any signals. As a child, I checked it myself - I slowly brought a twig to a wild river frog, then slowly pushed it with this twig - it was like a doll.
And educated people also know that you can safely stick your finger not only into boiling water, but also into red-hot metal. And you can walk on hot coals. And keep the flame in your mouth. And to eat glass ... It's just physiology.
Sorry.

NodeBB is progress. NodeBB is good. But NodeBB is also bad - although the mind did it all.
-
We see that it is so everywhere. The mind makes progress. But there is not only good there. There is also bad, even insane, even terrible. How is this compatible with reason?
-
I already know the general answer. Progress, all actions are done not by the mind, not only by the mind, there are such energies that we do not yet know enough about. Both in the brain of an individual and in the brain of a society.
-
I am trying to take the next step. I am trying to take understand at least the main features of these energies. Their interaction with the mind.
-
I hope that we can see the main features without much knowledge and without complex microscopes. Because there is an opportunity to study the brain of a society - which is large enough and sufficiently illuminated to do without instruments.
-
Moreover, studying the brain of a society is not only easier, but also necessary, since an individual does not exist, he can only be a node in the network of society.
-
-
I have not lost my way. It's just that this path does not go along the highway, but through the forest, and even at night. But I can see the stars and I hope not to lose the correct orientation.

I did not lose my way in the wood, but I
took a path that doesn't go along the highway tonight.
But I looked up and saw the stars,
and that has made all the orientation.

We're currently running 1.14.3 and don't have anything installed to specifically support older browsers and I'm kind of surprised that it works here but not other places.
@boomzilla said in NodeBB for older browsers:
That said, I'm working on getting us back up to the current release (which just bumped to 1.17.0) so I expect the amount of NodeBB specific talk to spike.
Let's try to look at a specific example. More progress will be made on this site soon. Because of this new progress, I will not be able to live here - me will need a new browser, which requires a new operating system, which requires a new computer, which requires a new room, which requires a new home, which requires a new country ... For me, this new progress will be a madness of reason. For many others, it will not be a great joy either.
Who will make this progress? Only 2 people - julianlam and boomzilla. The first made new technology that won't work on previous devices. The second one is going to put this technology here. How many people live on this site? 2000? 20,000? More? But no one is going to ask their opinion.
So, we have several discoveries at once.
- progress without reason is made by few people
- these few people are divided into 2 classes: technology manufacturers and technology implementers
- the problem arises when the implementers of technologies are managers of companies.

I'll run through them real quick myself, but if you're on XP, it's 78.425 percent probable that you can use Windows 7, which has more possibilities.
