@PleegWat, since we're both rogues we can communicate in secret in thieves' cant. Of course, we can also do the same with halfling since we're the only ones who know it
Thieves' cant has the advantage that it's not obvious we're exchanging a secret message. Also we're more likely to want to hide message from our enemies rather than our friends, and they might know thieves' cant, halfling, or both.
Yes - kinda. Except you still sound a little weird. Also, halfling jokes are less accessible to biggers since they use words like "bigger".

@Gribnit said in RPG: The End War (Trolling thread):

A lot of it is hand signals. The whole idea is to avoid letting people know you're communicating

Okay good, that thief's cant, the one with no canting.

@Gąska said in RPG: The End War (OOC thread):
Wait, we have two lightfoot halfling rogues? At least they're different genders to tell them apart.
Um... well, they are both halflings.

Nigrim's perception check: 10
1d20[10]ugh, the most boring possible result.

@Gribnit
Huh?

@DMBot you know what you did.

Panapos can feel arcane power swirling, but there's something fundamentally wrong with the flows of magic
hopefully that was a Detect Magic check result...

I'm pretty sure that roll was supposed to happen on Roll20 not in the game thread

Fair. Then, why no penalty?
-
@Gribnit Because @Mason_Wheeler is a kind and magnanimous DM, presumably

What kind of magnanimous DM would even allow such a roll to occur? If the DM would allow this, I will send my ticket back!

@Gąska said in RPG: The End War (OOC thread):
@Mason_Wheeler I know I'm really pushing it right now, but since we haven't just yet got to a moment where this matters, can I do the last-minute change of starting equipment and get that pike?
Smite him! Smite him dead! Divert the moon from its orbit to crush him!

Do you need a feat to choke up with a pike and attack at 5ft, such that it threatens specifically the squares 5ft away, or is that free-with-pike and it just has more threatened squares? This has jumped around a lot through the systems.

That would be a fun critical fail: trying to multitask, you sent the missiles at the wrong target.

@Gąska Screaming like a berserker, Bob thrusts wildly at the crimson-skinned attacker, but it easily sidesteps.
Feel free to move, but be aware that stepping away from it (as opposed to moving laterally around it) will provoke an attack of opportunity.
Lemmy smiles on your efforts then punches himself in the mouth for being a god.

@HardwareGeek said in RPG: The End War:
@Mason_Wheeler Panapos runs past the inert body of the guard, Thad, until he is due south of the demon (distance 20 feet; max speed 25). By his estimate, that should put the demon in range (just barely) but protect Nigrim from the wave of thunderous force that sweeps out from him. He hopes that Thad is already as dead as he looks, because if not, this will almost certainly kill him.
@DMBot roll 2d8 for damage
You shoulda took Corpse Explosion, then Thad would add damage. Have I mentioned the Book of Vile Darkness?

Congratulations @Gąska for the first critical hit of the campaign.
It helps that it was distracted by two failed attacks of course...
"We loosened the monster up for you"
I didn't realize this campaign was against the fighting pickle jar :o
No one can help you. You must face the gazebo alone.
-
@Gąska said in RPG: The End War:
Errata: critical damage doesn't gain damage bonus, just die. Total damage is 21, not 25.
Goddamnit 5e, that's supposed to be more or less the other way around but never, ever clearly stated anywhere in any cohesive way.

Clasping one fist inside the other hand, it brings the two down together,
Uhoh, you're up against The Federation. Watch out for teleported reinforcements and strange pauses in the villain's speeches.

@Gribnit I actually had considered earlier to make a point of that (Turn your back boys, looking costs 2 silver each) but everyone's busy and the moment isn't quite there.

If previous players in the first turn had had trouble accessing the chest
Well, one of them failed a perception check to find anything in the chest.
Yes, but @Mason_Wheeler didn't mention the fact there was a lock on it until after combat. If it had been locked, we'd have had to force the lock, or to search Thad and/or the wreckage for the key first since neither Aeron nor Jillian had their thieves tools handy.
Yet another saddening occurrence of
chest
in the presence of a female character without a leering pun of some sort. If you leave this encounter area without fixing this you will all lose XP.

@Gribnit My ideals do state
Why not make a living doing what I enjoy?
But the timing didn't work out there.

@HardwareGeek Randomness source is System.Random. Not cryptographically strong or anything, but good enough for casual use.
Of course, it’s coded with:
if (roll.user === “@HardwareGeek”) { return System.Random() / 2 }
-
@izzion Actually the command implementations don't know anything about who's calling them; that's strictly the province of the "frontend" messaging logic.
-
@Gąska said in RPG: The End War (OOC thread):
What do I need a longsword for if I already have a pike?
This sentence entirely explains pikemen.

So, I’ve had buyer’s remorse over not signing up at start... talked to @Mason_Wheeler about the possibility of late joining and he’s willing to consider it, so I figure I’ll ask y’all:
- would you be ok with me joining as a cleric type?
- what’s the party expectation as far as degree of min/max vs just going with what looks fun / fits a character concept?
I'm assuming you've played a cleric before, so:
Shut up and heal the fighter.
