Yeah, it was the "ree" that got me. I've always said rej ex; I'd understand reg (hard g)-ex.
I guess I'm the weirdo.
I know that it "should" be pronounced
regg-ex
based on the root words, but I've always called itrej-ex

In my new project, major tasks are described by pitch documents, often called just pitches. Our PM pronounces it as if it starts with "b". Planning meetings are quite fun now.

Won't have to wonder for much longer. Attempting to restore it, since the new version of Android is missing some really-nice-to-haves. I'll see y'all in an hour to report back success... or not.

Well, the backup was 25 GB, which is technically before the 29 GB "usable" area of the fake flash drive. It's actually pretty good chances!

Testing after copying off whatever I could. The actual restore is taking much longer.
USB 2.0 is no longer sufficient!

Apparently, Android 10 vs 11 uses a different encryption by default. I guess this is why the devs say actually formatting the partition on flashing is required. And why upgrading is not a supported thing.
Thus, after booting 11, I cannot restore 10 without formatting, rebooting enough for it to start "optimizing apps", then rebooting again to actually restore data again.
This, coupled with quite a few missing custom features makes me wonder why this was released. It's barely better than Stock!

?If I had done this earlier in the process (or I had committed the WIP I had before I did this, I'd just revert.
But as it is, I'm plumbing through hundreds (conservatively) of whitespace only changes in a 20k LOC file to make sure I keep the changes I want but not the whitespace only changes.
Do a diff ignoring whitespace and then revert+patch?
You presuppose I’m familiar enough with git or similar tools to do that, and not some kind of keyboard monkey coder.
A bold move, Cotton, let’s see how it pays off.
Heh, don't fall for that then. Thought that was a fair troll, but -w revert+patch is going to get you a cyclic ADT, what you really need is to do a fast-forward rebase.
The problem here is that we know you. Otherwise this would have worked as “yeah, that gibberish is probably some real issue in git land.”
fairly stated. "cyclic ADT" was a deliberate overplay in any case.

Why do people always assume that unauthorized 3rd-party firmware hacked together by a couple Linux nerds in their spare time is automatically better than stock?

It's not an assumption. Case in point: on stock I can't configure my buttons. Apparently in this new build they lost that ability.

Either of those are acceptable. Re-jex is just absurd though.

It's usually because stock tends to be a walled garden, while custom is generally aimed at unlocking as much as possible.

Because stock is cobbled together by needful doers that would need to be watered twice a week if they were any dumber?

It was successful. All the secure token things were invalidated (so, I was signed out of Google and Slack and who knows what else), but everything is otherwise still there. To my observation, anyways, which is all that's important in the end, right?

@error Consider yourself lucky this is the lite version. Some years the upboat/downboat control spun like a data reel to reel, some years added "Parp!" to everyone's avatar (@PJH), and one year every containing block was slightly randomly rotated a few degrees.
-
@TwelveBaud more likely the
Parp!
was just a natural occurrence, you get things that go "Parp!" in sufficiently complex systems.
-
@Gribnit Nah, in this case it's an in-joke related to the Signature Guy bug in Community Server, where PJH's avatar showed an unhealthy amount of buttcrack.

And a year or two ago, vote buttons were swapped around.

I liked the restyling of the “2 Months Later” sub-banners a la Spongebob. (“Goddamnit Fbmac” came in at the same time IIRC, and was liked enough to be a permanent feature.)

I wouldn't trust the "hot singles / moms / ... in your area" ads, those seem sketchy. Not sure about your jurisdiction, but you could try the Netherlands.
