There most certainly was a videogame, but there was a comic strip long before that.
Three games, at least, 'coz the one I played was Spy vs. Spy III
The comic was and is one of the MAD Magazine mainstays. Kids these days. I don't even.

Microsoft claims Azure storage is "Designed to provide at least 99.99999999999999 % (16 9's) durability of objects over a given year" i.e. a 1 in 10 quadrillion chance of losing a single file for a year.
Microsoft is worth over 1.5 trillion dollars. If they actually believed that claim, they should be willing to take a gamble where I pay $0.0001 (in addition to normal storage costs) to store a file for a year, and if they lose it, they give me ownership of the entire company. Somehow I doubt they'd be willing to take that, particularly given that their SLA doesn't seem to include any compensation for data loss at all.
It appears to offer a 25% Service Credit if your GRS/GZRS/RA-GRS/RA-GZRS files and/or hot blob data are not available at least 99% of the time, which is slightly more than nothing.
These sorts of advertising claims come from probability and statistics, just like how the MTBF rating for hard drives is calculated from the likelihood of failure of each of the individual parts of the drive and not from running a bunch of hard drives for hundreds of thousands of hours until they fail. They're never used in the warranty/SLA.

I played a ton of Spy vs. Spy II on my Commodore 64. I didn't get I and III until much later.

Today, the nincompoop decided a bush next to the side gate was the appropriate location.
Not pictured: Side gate to the left, which is the furthest point of the house you can get while still being considered "in front of the house".
I just have to wonder what the person was thinking. Sadly, I do not have surveillance in that part of the yard. I'm really considering setting something up now...
For reference, this is the front view of my house, red arrow is where they left it, blue-ish circle-like is where normal people leave shit.

Status: If you take a 5-digit number and a 6-digit number, multiply them with each other, then use the result as an offset into a buffer which is large enough, what do you get?
Spoiler
Integer overflow, because both of the input numbers were in 32-bit variables.

Status: Upgraded both my desktop and my laptop to version 2004. Took...forever. Probably because my internet connection here is le suck. But it seemed to be stuck at "Installing....94%" (before even requiring the restart) for about an hour. With an SSD.
Otherwise, so far no issues. All my files seem to be where I left them.

Status: Got a universal adapter to try to fix my power tool charger. I dialed in the correct voltage according to the (non-working) wall wart from the charger, plugged in the battery and plugged my adapter into the thing, and the light came on. Then after a few seconds, a bit of smoke started coming out of the charger, so I unplugged everything. I guess the charger has no current limit of its own, and was relying on the power supply only giving 85 mA to prevent itself from self-immolating?

Status: Finally got the software installed. ESET was blocking the installation. So they had to disable that to install the software.
Good way to keep the machine secure, no software can be installed.
-
Status: The software is installed, But it can't launch, throws various permission errors. Turns out that the new machine was never configured correctly to be a part of the domain. Might explain some of the various install issues. No matter, IT started this at 8am, it is now 2pm and the machine is still missing software.
Ticket for this box was entered two weeks ago (the day the new hire accepted the position) they start on Monday. They started working on this box yesterday and what should of been a simple task of: store old image, wipe, place new image has turned into an all day affair. Apparently the base image is just that, a base image, it doesn't have any of the bog standard, installed on every machine, software on it.
I foresee IT working the weekend, but as they are contract employees I bet my company will be paying for their time. Simple due to shear ineptitude.
-
Status: 3:20pm The machine appears to have the requested software installed and actually be functional. Only took ~7hrs today and god only knows how many yesterday to wipe the box clean.
Well, at least the new hire will have their machine operational when they start. I had to wait 4 hours the day I started.

Status: Just tried "Fuwatto Shrimp" (a "gluten-free rice snack" with a "savory hint of shrimp") as a part of the Japanese snack box for July. I believe this reaffirms my dislike of shrimp since they smell absolutely horrendous and taste disgusting to me.
If they weren't flavored, I'd probably actually enjoy them as like rice "potato chips". So far, this July box is 0/2 (first I tried a "salt lychee" Kit Kat and wasn't a fan, a shame since June's "ocean salt" Kit Kats were really good).
Maybe I should spin off a new thread for the misadventures of my snack boxes. I still have the pamphlets for all my boxes from JapanCrate so far so I could try to review each item from memory for the old ones and go from there with the new crates.

1 One notable exception, but it’s not a paycheck from work. I still have it lying around after 1.5 years because it’s 50€ and I can’t be arsed to go to the bank during their office hours.

Sightus: Honey, I Shrunk The LOD
Obsidian's latest, Grounded, might be otherwise decent, but I refuse to consider anything that looks like a goddamn cartoon from 1996. It's amazing how with order of magnitude more computing power, advanced tools and faster pipelines and skyrocketing budgets gamedev has regressed from trying to one-up Crysis to churning this sort of "Chewed Crayons on Canvas". And somehow it still runs like a dog. What the hell went wrong with the world?

On that note, after only 13 years of being the gold standard for "but can it run ..." jokes, Crysis remastered will be released for the weak-ass Switch (and also PS4, XBONE). Wondering if it's got lower graphics quality than the original anyway.

I believe it will. partly. I mean, it got delayed to deliver "the high quality experiences fans expect from the franchise", because internets commentards totally chewed Saber Interactive a new one when the video got out.

At each company I've worked, the first paycheck was always paper. They couldn't make it direct deposit until the 2nd pay period. Even if I started work at the beginning of said pay period.

It may be different in Germany (or by bank policy, whatever it is) but in my experience checks over six months are stale dated and if you try to deposit them they'll take back the money and charge you a fee for the convenience

Actually, now that you mention it, I have no idea where it even is. So that check was probably just a good way of not actually giving me any money because I’ll never cash it.
