@hungrier If those are metered spots, now I'm left wondering if they got a ticket when the meter ran out...
-
@dcon He should request a discount though, that spot can perfectly well be shared.
-
That would make an awesome desk lamp.

Below a certain temperature the structure of ice changes. Not sure which temperature though. And I wouldn't be surprised if the wood disintegrates at some point.

@TwelveBaud That's water ice. Sorbet ice is different.

I don't know either, but visual reverse-engineering suggests it's merely semi-transparent mirrors (the kind that are used to split laser beams) in a box with fluorescent lights along each seam.
If I had the resources I'd try to replicate it myself, but alas, I have 62 too-many active projects as it is...

Nope, it’s not a concentrating solar system and it doesn’t rely on molten salt or specialized oils. It involves norbornadiene-quadricyclane
Oh, is that all?
Anyway, it looks neat, but then you get to the comments section and of course the top comment talks about the eViL OiL CoMpAnIeS sUpPreSsInG rEsEaRcH

@topspin said in Internet of shit:
@hungrier 100 years ago the patent office apocryphally said "everything that can be invented has been invented", and people have been ridiculing that idea.
It now seems we have indeed reached that point and people are just piling garbage on everything to come up with new solutions looking for a problem.Contrary to that, I ran across this video the other day while watching some of Tom Scott's back catalogue:
