I figure the license plate is a cube of some kind, but I don't know beyond that.
-
@jinpa Hint: What do you know of that commonly comes in white cubes?
-
@Mason_Wheeler doesn't fit. Because whatever you're thinking about (and yes I know what you're going for), it isn't a monosaccharide like the license plate denotes.

Yeah, I figured you'd be probably the first person here to get this one...

C12H22O11 ?
-
@jinpa said in The nerdy jokes thread (bonus original title mode!):
C12H22O11
Sure, but license plates only have room for 7 characters, so... close enough.

I guess NaCl was taken. And too obvious.

I think it more qualifies as a WTF than a nerdy joke.

Buying a Nissan Cube? Definitely.

That's not right. Firstly, the I… prefix is very much not a style that is common.
Only if you're using an idiot language like Java.

The joke is that it's wrong?

Not sure if whooshing...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_51Nope, not whooshing.
There's second explanation, of course. If some alternate notation system is used, in which '51' means 1, then everything is ok.

Not necessarily, if the Volume is 51, then the area is 13.75 in that specific case...

I read in many different sources that area is in fact 51.

@MrL That's just what they want you to think

This reminds me of an absolutely un-translatable rebus in French, which of course I'm now going to inflict on you.
(edit: spoilered it as it's clearly NSFW... sorry!)
(yes, those are dicks, and the things on the right are rats -- I wanted to write in with emojis but the fraction is hard to do convincingly, so I grabbed the least-bad looking image I found instead)
Read as:
"un soudard ne vit que de rapines" (roughly, "a soldier lives from plunder only").
"un sous dard nœud vit queue deux rats pine" (alternatively, replace one dick two rats by a single rat's tail for "queue de rat")
-
@remi I think you've got your rodents and mushrooms mixed up
-
@hungrier Can I get a for that?
-
@remi You're missing an extra newline after the
<details>
to re-enable markdown.
-
@remi Sorry, no for you. Badgers are not rodents. Unsurprisingly, rodents are in the order Rodentia. Some badgers, including the European badger, are in the Mustelidae family (along with otters, weasels, ferrets and others); others are in Mephitidae family (along with skunks), both of which are in the order Carnivora.
-
@PleegWat Am I? It still renders correctly, including the
<abbr>
tag (OK, that's HTML, not markupdown). I guess whatever I broke doesn't matter and if it somehow manages to break another post further down (cough<small>
cough ), well, that's just an added bonus for this site, isn't it?Also, I can never remember how do you put a title (other than "details"). I know it's something "summary", but putting a
<summary>
tag before the<details>
doesn't work, nor does asummary="foo"
attribute inside the tag. At this point, trying to properly format is , so it'll stay with "details".
-
@remi You need a summary tag inside the details. Yes, that's weird.
You need the extra newline else the image doesn't expand.
