  • There of 8 or the family. Just a warm-up for the stock market is to Tibet and some stones on and 2 more days before I thought what a more days before the Real stones don't pick the other side.

My nephew told me a place to discuss the section was at the Stones - None - Spectate Swamp

Stone the face and don't trust border people.

    Stone

Would the Corrupt and Control Freaks... hide their secrets beyond these limits? Yup
Swampies can mine this trove and share... Thorough for sure

Google is fast but no good. Indexers... Boo.

You keep making this claim. It's not true.

I found this file size and line limit info just recently ... like a month or so ago.
Waaay back I tested Google, Bling, Yahoo.... by building a larger and larger text file... and appending a numeric key to the end.
It didn't take long to test their limits out, when you have a great search like us Swampies..
I was looking at file size rather than line and character counts...

Another easy feature to add to the Swamp search..
to increase proximity search ... ie exact phrase that overlaps a line...
If the filename has "tag" in it..
    At the input_1000:
I do a second read... combining the first read, plus a space then the 2nd read into the "search file data"

I just checked mystuff.txt file... for "nobody shares knowledge better" and found 969 being displayed..
My bet is if Google or Bling would not find that exact count... Not good for anything other that limited web site browsing.. Indexers have seen their day.

She read out the ingredients... a long list
I looked over to see the wrapper.. it looked like Chocolate and Peanuts..
She offered me one but I declined...
She took a bit and said "these go to the Farm" It tasted bad and the ferals (horses or ??) would get 'em
I said "I hope you got a good deal on 'em"

My computing task is some very interesting stories. She kept the face.

Stones like I was working on my way to Tibet and obsessed.

Obviously I haven't seen or better. Starting 2 day course at the years.

How about stones without holes in the rug looking at the planet.

  • Nobody finds and shares knowledge better than this

The more a person discusses something ... the more you learn and relearn...

Near the beginning I added the ability to "extract" the data that was displayed on the screen to an output file called replace.txt Or other name if I wished...

Computing is all about Extract Sort & Report... at least it was way back..

NOW i'll add the ability.. so that when something is displayed on the screen........I'll load & append that info into the "ClipBoard"

The old way... If I wanted something out of a Huge file.. I'd have to open that replace.txt file and clip out the text I wanted and then
    Paste that text ... elsewhere

Now I can just jump to the other session and enter Ctrl/v pasting that TEXT into the email or whatever.. A lot quicker and less mess...

Loading the clipboard like that... Opens things up for a 2nd search to examine ... or otherwise mess with the DATA. that is being reloaded on a continual basis.....

The ClipBoard usage ... ie transferring things between apps is BIG for finding and sharing knowledge

One time a coworker had some kind of an energy bar or whatever (definitely a bar). She took a bite and said, "This tastes like ass." Then she offered an opportunity for others to sample it. Needless to say, no one took her up on that.

  • @SpectateSwamp clipboard support? Wow, that's groundbreaking stuff. Will you have it finished in time for the year 2020?

@SpectateSwamp clipboard support? Wow, that's groundbreaking stuff. Will you have it finished in time for the year 2020?

Oh I have been using the ClipBoard for a long time. Using it to retrieve passwords and URL links.

Using the clipboard this way is totally different..

Another app can be running and get this info rather than having to look at replace.txt
Not a big deal but easily done.. With spaghetti code like this... So great...

  • Indexers aren't real Search...
They don't find it all... nope..

For my next election.... This Fall
I'll set up a hotmail or other account...
Citizens can send a e-mail with:
Doug for Prime Minister in the subject line...
Along with a special code or their name...

I'll take all emails in that account and put them in 1 huge text file...
    THEN
I'll do a search for "subject:" and "Doug for Prime"
in the single line matching mode...
All subject lines will be put to a small file that I'll post on my Web site...
People can check the vote counts and verify theirs... On their own....

No indexer can do this... nope. never..

  • @SpectateSwamp But what if someone misspells "prime" or "doug"? An indexer will often look for near-spellings of thigns.

  • @PotatoEngineer said in Nobody shares knowledge better than this:

@SpectateSwamp But what if someone misspells "prime" or "doug"? An indexer will often look for near-spellings of thigns.

Exact search can search for " pr" plus "me " and find all misspellings...
to find all the incorrect words in large text / merged files ... It's easy with Swamp search
Do a search and replace for all " prime " words.. most vocabulary's aren't that big...
a few thousand words at the most...
    change " doug " to " "
then when done only the misspelled words remain in the file. Simple but time-consuming..

  • @SpectateSwamp That sounds incredibly painful, and far more effort than it's worth. What about combining approaches? Use exact search for the right words, and then an index-style search for misspellings.

  • @PotatoEngineer said in Nobody shares knowledge better than this:

    Yes then again maybe No.

Some people I know can't spell worth a damn.. Me included...
With the proliferation of spell checkers.. Not so much bad spelling.. anymore.

If some other Swampie had done the list of "valid words" then maybe it would be easy to give it a go.
Blank out all those few thousand words and see what is left... EASY.

Right now I'm thinking about putting rich text to the clipboard... so that the hi-lighting can be transferred
Hi-lighting is important for Seeing the details.. yup
Seems there is a way by creating a word document in VB (I'll try this 2nd)

But for now just getting the complete screen display out to a clipboard should be an easy step #1
That is what is so good about this search is seeing 30 or more matches per screen and being able to have a quick look at the position.. and surrounding data.. FAST.. Just enter enter to see the next full page...
Yup to be good you got to be fast.. like this..

  • Nobody Curates Content better than this..
Just like polishing a turd.. It works...
The Fast forward option works.. and with a minor tweak it's a Super Slow motion Budge display..
Curating is doing screen re-shoots to enlarge and show off the slow motion results..
Super large text with Slowed print ... Is more interesting.
Finding stuff with great highlights and proximity elements highlighted make it easy for the eye to find what you want...
Curating doesn't have to be perfect to be FAR better than the original..

  • Some stones without holes in it if you are a year of a place to Tibet and on the people would be ready for the face.

Great spaghetti code starts with 8 or 10 Gold noodles.. the rest is the spaghetti

The furiously forward option... is Far better than the old Slo-Mo option...
The old way played a very short segment then paused for a bit then another segment and a pause....
The furious forward starts and plays a short segment of 1/25 sec or so.. then moves the start point ahead by 1/1000 second and plays most of the 1/25 segment again... over and over... slowing the progress and highlighting the same segment beautifully ...
This is the best way to show off the Cloaked Mothership and the distant ones as well..

You realize that a single frame of video (in US and Canada) is 1/30 second, yes? So playing "a short segment of 1/25 sec or so" is pretty much just playing the same single frame, or at most two frames, over and over, and advancing by 1/1000 second does absolutely nothing at all — you can't increment by part of a frame — at least until you've accumulated enough 1/1000 increments to jump to the next frame.
