Anybody got a line on the current Tamagotchi source code? Am wanting to dive in to see if I can tell my daughter when this thing'll chill out a bit.
Back when I was in primary school I heard from those using them that setting the clock correctly was not a good idea, because the sleep period was hardcoded.
I don't recall whether the clock could be changed without getting a new creature afterwards.

If you must know, a combination of:
- System Update Nao!

- Pin numbers? What's that?
- Delete your account, or understand that anyone can impersonate you passwordless for everything except (maybe) purchases. This includes data management.

You're not required to auto-update; that's in the settings.

Unsure what you mean. You can transfer most things to an SD card, and game data can be moved from one Switch to another.
- Pin numbers? What's that?
As opposed to a password? Confuse.

You are if you want to un-link your account. Oh wait, next response...
- Can't unlink your account no more!
?
After September's update, any account on the Switch that gets linked to a Nintendo account (or was already linked to a Nintendo account) cannot be unlinked unless you outright delete it from the Switch (which deletes all that user's local data, natch). If this happens to be undesirable (i.e. Your account happens to be linked and younger sibling renamed it forever ago and used that as theirs without your knowledge) you need to un-link before you update past that version.
- No data transfer for you!
Unsure what you mean. You can transfer most things to an SD card, and game data can be moved from one Switch to another.
I mean, there's no such thing as "see this user's data? Give it to this user". Sure, you can move pictures to the sdcard, and if you happen to have a second Switch (rich motherfucker you) you can move a user wholesale to another Switch, but if you only have the one unit, no data transfer for you!
- Pin numbers? What's that?
As opposed to a password? Confuse.
Oh? Can you lock accounts with a pin/password now? I was literally on the phone with Nintendo Support for two hours about this.
- Delete your account, or understand that anyone can impersonate you passwordless for everything except (maybe) purchases. This includes data management.
Impersonate how? And why not delete just the user instead?
Meaning, all it takes to impersonate a user on the Switch is to tap their mii icon in the top left of the home screen. There's no way to protect your data, everyone's an admin (except maybe if you have parental controls, but even then...). This is effectively like if all your local computer's accounts were passwordless Administrator accounts that inexplicably can't read another users Documents folder (but can delete them if they wanted!)
- No refunds! Ever!

Oh, sure. All except the one we got for Christmas and the one that was inside at the time are missing.
I don't care, it's not technically my Switch, but now that I'm going to delete my account on the Switch, someone's going to be upset that they can't play most of their games because it's not actually associated to their account and I can't transfer it to them.

I'm not going to fault the five year old for Nintendo's brokenness.
Nintendo doesn't make it clear in the slightest that eShop things you buy apply only for one account (family or not), and especially didn't make that clear a year ago when I was setting this up last Christmas, so whatever.

Which is when when I buy Minecraft for the child sub-account in Microsoft it makes me log in as me to play it.
Besides, Steam is not the same thing and arguably does it better, since Family Share doesn't need me to put in my password for others to play compatible games I'm sharing with that.
-
@Tsaukpaetra If you buy Minecraft for an account, that account owns Minecraft, and they can play it anywhere. No shit. We're talking about accounts that don't own copies of games. On the Switch, just like every other console, any account can play any game installed on that Switch but to install a game it must be owned by the account doing the installing.

I haven't played Minecraft on Xbox so I don't know. But you're literally arguing against yourself here - my point is that the very restrictive behavior is standard and there's no reason you should expect anything different from a behind-the-curve company like Nintendo, and you're agreeing with me.

This is a video game console. There aren't 'users', just profiles. There is very little you can do that actually has consequence to another user, besides eShop purchases, which are password-walled. But that's also because they're tied to a Nintendo account - profiles don't have to be.
The only restrictive behaviour is where it hardly makes sense: Anyone can delete another user's data, but they can't copy it between users. WTF?
'Save data' means different things to different games. For Enter the Gungeon it might be your savegame but for Fortnite it could be your Epic account info. Individual games can have the ability to copy save data between profiles.
I think you're nitpicking and ignoring my original post response.

None of the games I'd like to do this with (literally, all of them currently "installed") support this. So, is it really an ability games have? Because from my standpoint, something so simple has apparently never been implemented.

I would. Someone deleting your data isn't someone you should be sharing your Switch with, but it's just a savegame. There are no real-world consequences, not like there are with a computer.
