@Benjamin-Hall Ouch. You got kidney stones before?
Yeah, but not for years. The worst seems to have passed (). Multiple hot baths were my only functional palliative, the ibuprofen did nothing.
Yeah, Ibuprofen does not work. If you're lucky Diclofenac is sufficient, more hardcore pains will require something like Metamizol. After that, there's really only morphine or similar.
-
@Benjamin-Hall said in The Official Status Thread:

Ibuprofen doesn't usually do much for me either. But with my foot being a bit more annoying, I decided to try six pills instead. It seems to be having marginal effect.

@Rhywden it works for minor headaches and sore muscles. A bit. For this? Not even slightly.

Yah, I know. You're speaking to someone who had six non-minor stones which resulted in three separate hospital episodes and one minor non-invasive surgery and one not-so-minor non-invasive surgery (that one took four months in total to clear up).
You really should go to a doctor - either an urologist or a nephrologist. You'll at least need an ultrasound and/or an x-ray.
Because those little buggers, instead of merely blocking the ureter, can also grow overly attached to the kidney lining. And if you thought you're having fun now just wait until that happens.

Some would consider that a feature...

Have you guys thought of just increasing your fluid intake?
-
@sweaty_gammon I'm thinking that was at least part of the cause (I sometimes get real "busy" and forget to drink water), plus a stress spike and unusually high (relative, for me) protein intake, all of which I've been told can trigger onset.
-
@Benjamin-Hall I normally while working have a Pint of Water on my desk and it gets refilled quite often. If you are sufferring from kidney stones you are dehydrated.
Your piss should be mostly clear and a little yellow for optimal hydration.

@anonymous234 Starting next week I gotta learn webforms. Oh god, it's gonna be painful.

update: 'course I get it working as soon as I say that. I just submitted it with "test" instead of my lengthy text, then edited it to include the actual text.

Noooo, that never occured to me! Or any of the doctors.
Seriously, though, in case of someone like me where it's most likely genetics (i.e. I don't produce stones which can be directly linked to some kind of dietary intake or metabolic failure) then drinking much water is only reducing the recidivism rate.
Which is high, by the way, around 60%. I got my stones almost like clockwork - every two years, just like my mother when she was my age. However, I haven't had a major incident for four years now so I'm hoping that the problem solved itself now (again, just like it did for my mother).
Again: It's not that easy. That's what all of my doctors told me, by the way.

@pie_flavor worth a watch in your opinion?

@Jaloopa Yes. I've forgotten what didn't work out well for the miners, so there won't even be any spoilers.

@Gąska standards for external interfaces are followed, sure. this does not have to have any effect on internal quality standards. internal quality standards, are in practice worked around. source, working at banks.

Also:
The tool 'Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore.Tools.DotNet' is now included in the .NET Core SDK.
I go to project, no entity framework referenced at all. FFS I hate .NET core.

Was thinking about what Movie to watch tonight. I will watch "Master and Commander" ... then I realise there wasn't a sequel

I vehemently refuse to call them "methods". They're functions dammit. Why does it matter if it's in a class or not?
I guess it's because of the dead meaning of function as a mapping from inputs to outputs. But then it might be more correct to just start calling everything methods?
-
I've spent most of the last 9 months either:
- Writing Automapper Profile classes.
- Writing Tests For Profile classes.
- Writing Sprocs.

A method is a function with the concept of
this
. It's easy.

.oh, those aren't really
methods
, they'restatic methods
. Those are pretty much functions but once you've reserved one keyword you want to reserve another?
-
@Gribnit said in The Official Status Thread:

No. They can return void. Also what I said about them not having "this" isn't strictly true.
-
@sweaty_gammon so can a method. You can deal with that in a system by calling them procedures or subroutines or whathaveyou, or you can have a
Void
orNone
or something type that a not-a-function can not-return.As to their locking scope and what namespaces are available to them, that's going to be pretty language dependent. But, they won't have a
this
which is an instance of the class they're on in any case I can think of.

@sweaty_gammon I actually went and implemented something like friend method access in a horrible way in Java in code that I haven't deleted yet, because it was basically on a 15-year-old dare from my dead uncle.
