Wasn't it because he didn't even have anything tangible to deliver?

@djls45 Surprises me; you'd think that Patreon, taking a cut, really wouldn't mind if someone was taking in some money without anything in return. As long as the supporters are fully aware and weren't duped/conned/scammed.

I am unceasingly amazed that the heavy posters here are able to hold a full-time job as well, in at least one case, a prestigious job.
Just think of the ineptitude of the average programmer, and it won't be as amazing that it's easy to fuck about doing nothing in particular and still be more productive than the average.
Some programmers even have a negative value production. š

As it says holiday, which is usually under 90 days (but who knows, theyāre old), I assume thatās the application for the visa waiver program. While annoying enough, thatās nothing compared to applying for (an application for an application for an appointment to get) a visa.
Filling out that online thing correctly took me on the order of 3 hours, iirc, for what they said would take about 75-90 minutes. If that had timed out, too, Iād surely have clicked the terrorist box on purpose.Filed under: Sole purpose of visit.

I assume thatās the application for the visa waiver program
Yup.
But Mr Stevenson mistakenly answered a question on the Esta visa form, which asked if he was a terrorist, by declaring that he was one.
Apart from catching stupid (and old) people out, what's the exact purpose of those questions?
-
-
@PJH Actually, I see a rather obvious purpose of those questions: legal shenanigans. See, if you have ever engaged in those kind of activities in some other country, a US court can't try you for them, because it was outside of it's jurisdiction. But it can try youāand expel youāfor lying on the visa or visa waiver application. So they need them to be able to expel people for this kind of crimes done elsewhere.
-
@Bulb As a Visa is usually temporary, the net benefit of doing so is rather dubious.
-
@PJH said in In other news today...:

It isn't for either of those.
The question is there that if you lie, they have a reason straight away to kick you out legally I suspect.

Not sure if that's some joke about current/recent politics or going all the way back to the Revolutionary War, as one side's terrorists usually are another side's freedom fighters.

@topspin One side is objectively more extreme than the other, and terrorists are typically extremists.

Someone forwarded me this:
"Gondolas in the Hochzillertal ski area collide"
Basically a brand new ski lift was lifting all its gondolas uphill to store them until the wind would back down, but at one point it had one gondola derail and then catch four more gondolas traveling behind.
Nobody got hurt because all gondolas were empty, but it's unknown how they're going to untangle that mess...

What a word is rooted in has rather little to do with what it currently means though. Prude, for me, has absolutely no connotation of levelheadedness or well considered-ness.
