Microsoft Edge now doomed

Who told you that? It's Trident with all the compatibility stuff supporting older layout engines ripped out, inside a new UI.
Trident is the rendering engine of IE.
Edge is the browser replacing IE, and it uses Chakra as a rendering engine. You seem confused here
-
Chakra is the JS engine, not the rendering engine:
In a December 2015 talk at JSConf US, we announced that we would be open-sourcing the key components of the Chakra JavaScript engine that powers Microsoft Edge.
Right there on line 1 of the article you linked to.

We are supposed to read the article ?
Sorry for the confusion. For my defense, I'm on my first coffee.

No. What I read during the beta was they forked Trident and ripped out all the old compatibility code, so it can't pretend to be IE 10 or older.
Perhaps that turned out not to be true, or they changed what they were doing later, or they renamed the fork Chakra.
Oh, look, I was right.
Microsoft EdgeHTML is the new web rendering engine that powers the Microsoft Edge web browser and Windows 10 web app platform.
Microsoft EdgeHTML began as a fork of MSHTML in early 2014, but has since diverged rapidly.

Just because it's a death cult is no excuse to dress sloppily!

Yeah, good luck with that.
It won't need luck - just time when Microsoft force it and make IE11 EOL.

It's just a stylish noose.

And, doom. FINALLY doom.

Here's something that Edge has that Chrome doesn't!
Don't know what the fuck it's for, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
-
@Tsaukpaetra it probably enhances the amount of data sent to Microsoft.

Try it on a blurry license plate!
