Apparently I've never posted anything.
-
I agree you've never posted an empty post. Why is that surprising?
You've certainly never posted a + sign either.
Edit: That specific query does weird things....
-
@Tsaukpaetra Search is not
-eq
, it's-contains
. Empty search means return everything.

I don't understand, @ben_lubar . Use your words.
-
@Tsaukpaetra That is a completely empty search, returning everything on the forum.

This forum contains only 500 posts?
-
@Tsaukpaetra 500 is when I know there's more than 500. That seems to be the maximum it says it returns.
e: No, that's actually just the maximum amount a search can return. Still, it starts with a pool of all the posts in the whole forum.

Same reason for everything in Dr Who: dramatic necessity.

That's not an empty search, that's no search. An empty search returns nothing. I just checked.
-
@Gąska I clicked the advanced search button without typing anything into the box. Everything shows up. I type my name. Nothing shows up.
-
@pie_flavor try not typing your name between clicking the advanced search button and clicking search.
-
@Gąska But then how do I get all posts posted by me?
-
@pie_flavor are you complaining that entering your name breaks empty search, or are you complaining you can't search for all posts by you?
-
@pie_flavor said in fbmac supreme:
But then how do I get all posts posted by me?
They're on your profile.
-
@boomzilla Okay, how do I sort those from oldest to newest and filter out all the ones not in General?
-
@pie_flavor The profile page accepts voice commands. You just yell the filter conditions at your computer and it handles the rest.
-
@pie_flavor said in fbmac supreme:

You could go to the rights and consent menu and export your posts, maybe. Or bug Ben enough and he might fetch them for you.
-

Trust me, they're not worth reading anyway
-

rights and consent menu
TIL. But now that I've checked it out, I'm wondering about one thing.
Does it mean that if I give consent, website administration won't be able to delete my account?

-
@boomzilla So, IOW, the search feature, built for sorting and filtering posts, isn't capable of sorting and filtering posts.

Yeah, that's what I said. In case you're missing it, what you're describing is one specific arbitrary limitation.

Yeah, that's what I said.
No, see, the green stuff is the stuff that I added. If you had said that then there wouldn't be any green there.
-
@boomzilla It's synonymous. Read my edit.
-
@pie_flavor said in fbmac supreme:

Yes, indeed, that was kind of my point. It's pretty common to require some kind of input for a search function to prevent accidentally DoSing yourself or just returning useless results.
-
@boomzilla Well, you can't DoS when the max search result capacity is 500, which NodeBB's is. And I think the code that prevents useless results did the check backwards.
-

This limitation being, "you can't search with empty string, except for this bug where if you click 'advanced search' button, it shows random results anyway the first time around".
-
@Gąska It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Like space bar heating?
Didn't you realise use of unheated spacebars can cause serious medical issues years down the line? It's almost as bad as RSI!

Don't you realize that use of heated spacebars contributes to AGW? Won't someone think of the
childrenclimate?!?
