The Secretive Hidden InterNet Censors

What do you do when Organizations or Governments bow
to pressure groups and turn up the heat. An Anti-Trapper
of some kind has done that here, just recently. My Trapper friends were allowing me to come along and
video the Winter TrapLine activity. Starting from the
beginning of December through to Yesterday.I would upload the trapline video as soon as I got in
and the second half of the videos went up in the morning.I would notify 11 trapline forums, to let them know that
the videos were downloaded and a few of the details etc.The Vast vast majority loved the 340+ video segments.
Anyway a couple days ago (2) a trapper friend of my friend
called Him after receiving a call from some Official, who
raged on about a Bear being caught in a Martin Box. A person
from GreenPeace or Animal Rights Group was snooping in the
trapline forum and found stuff about trapping, They didn't
like and started making calls and pulling strings. We need
to expose these Vigilante Censors and their Puppets.AnyWay it resulted in the Video replay of the season being
cancelled because of this pressure. The simplest reaction
was to take everything off the net. Too Bad for us all.
-
It's like this: if you put something on the Internet, it's public. That means anyone can see it, and that includes people who can complain about it. And there's no reason why they can't complain about it. Presumably, if an official was calling about a bear caught in a martin box, martin boxes left where bears can get caught in them are against the local or national laws on trapping. (I don't claim any special knowledge about that.) Your videos were actually evidence that something was wrong, and you posted them publicly. You might as well have bought advertising time during the news and put up a slogan saying "we're doing questionable stuff, come get us."
If you really don't want anti-trappers to see your videos, then don't put them online, or do it using a system that only allows authenticated users to see them. Otherwise, the person who's doing something stupid is you.

And did you notice that he claims to be a Spammer in his tagline? Maybe it means something else to trappers... Maybe Spam is actually made from bears; it's what they do with the meat from bears that get caught in martin boxes.

TheVicar - the fun part is when he takes our incessant mocking as a sign that we too are under the influence of greenpeace's "secret" internet censors.
To the OP: please take fewer drugs before posting. Or drink less. Or something. Your post makes no sense. First you say they're "secret" censors, then you name them (greenpeace, "some official").
-
So people actually want to watch trapping videos? That's either boring or disturbing.
Anyway, you should get a better host.

Even worse. Now we have got capitalization Censors. Must be retired English Teachers.

Supposedly civilized people still use traps? And WTF is a martin box?

Ok. Maybe you'll understand this.
Some unknown person called GreenPeace or some other such organization.
That Organization then called an official that has some influence over trapping and
that person called the trappers friend. Raging on about the Bear Video and who
was it, that was responsible. The Bear was accidentally caught in the trap. In 10
years of trapping, this has never happen before. Bears usually hibernate for the
winter.
The Official was secretive and sneaky. It's easy to find me or my trapper friend.
How they found his friend and not me, is weird.
The complainant must have been that old lady Brigitte Bardot.

It's a box designed to minimize the capture of other animals. Birds, Bears and such.
Most of your great Grandparents were trappers. They won't like the names you call them.
When you pass over.
-
I very much doubt most great-grandparents shared a profession/hobby/anything, since then the society needed almost as many different tasks to be done as today's. And btw. I just happen to know that none of my great-grandparents were trappers.

If some of my ancestors used traps (looking back enough generations, most likely some of them did, 10000 b.c. or so ;-), they most likely did it to gather food, not for fun.
Definitely none of them used video cameras to boast about it on the internet.

Some of us still do that. (I'm a deer hunter, not a trapper, though.) I also eat what I take.
And were I to post videos on the internet, I'd probably do it of the beautiful scenery that surrounds me on a cold winter dawn, not me actually taking a shot. And definitely not of the processing, unless you want to watch me cut myself repeatedly. :)
Anyway, the real WTF is this guy's capitalization system and that he thinks Greenpeace ratted him out. For all we know, it could have been a trapper who thinks that what OP is doing is sorta tasteless (posting a video of a bear getting caught but not seemingly doing anything about it). There's a lot of honor, discipline, and personal responsibility in those circles.

We didn't want to edit the video. Some people want to see what really happens on TrapLines others don't. Capitalization doesn't bother me as much as those dumb Brackets and Colons everywhere.

I bet some Bears will get trapped in a Manning trap in Florida this weekend, and not only will it be video tapped, but also watched live by millions of viewers.

I'll be watching. That Manning trap must be something. More than 1 Bear trapped at a time. I just hope GreenPeace doesn't shut the broadcast down.

A Martin Box? Here's a pic:
-
You really are an idiot. 10 out of 10 to the 'vigilante censors' and 0 out of 10 to you. Posting videos of illegal activity on the web will get you into trouble. This surprises you? Would you respond the same to someone reporting child abuse videos? or wife beating videos? There are laws to protect animals and your group obviously broke them. If the worst that happens you is that you have to take down your videos of animal cruely then you should count yourself bloody lucky you're not posting this drivel from a jail cell!

While I'm plenty skeptical of Greenpeace (and I understand one of the former founders refers to them as "a band of scientific illiterates who use Gestapo tactics to silence people" and there is plenty of scope for calling them a WTF, this actually sounds like one of their most eminently reasonable or even commendable sorts of activities.
But in any event... this entire thread is a most excellent WTF. :)

Besides the fact that your complaint is nearly incoherent, this really isn't the proper forum for this. Secret Ninja Vigilante Censors are not an IT WTF. Not a WTF at all, since they seem to have done their job very well. If it's the censorship itself you want to complain about, you should probably do it somewhere else.

This is a common misconception - just like with spiders, you're never more than about 100 ft away from the nearest bear.
