The week starts on...

Monday! At least so says ISO 8601. Sure, some places reckon it's Sunday and I can sort of accept that. What I cannot accept is whatever the hell Jira is trying to pull here:
-
@Deadfast four day work week?
-
@boomzilla Tuesday's just as illogical as Sunday is, so why not?
Does it always start on Tuesday or is it because today is Tuesday?
-
If Saturday's a weekend, and a Sunday's a weekend, obviously the week starts on Sunday. Anybody who's ever looked at a plank or a piece of rope knows that if something has two ends, they're opposite one another.
-
I think someone else mentioned it on this forum, but the best day for a week to start on is Wednesday. Then you work 3 days, have 2 days off and work another 2 days. None of this 5-day work week stuff.

I'll check tomorrow. Either option is dumb though.
-
@Deadfast Most tools like that let the company set whether the week (according to their accounting) starts on Sunday or Monday. Maybe Jira lets you select any day as the start of the week.
-
I'm a traditionalist; my weeks start on Sunday.
-
@Vault_Dweller
Hmmm ... I don't work on Wednesday ... where does that leave me?

Saturday and Sunday are (together) the week end, and Monday is the week beginning.

Tried it but those strange dudes with colored pants and sticks didn't appreciate it.
Apparently it is a nono to use their lawn as a bike park.

It could be something like: show entire month, including the first of next month. Include as many days as nessescary from the previous month, to make a complete/rectangular grid.
Cause why show a partial month? To save work displaying things in a saner way?

So it's Wednesday now and Tuesday is still the start of the week.

As far as I can tell, Jira sucks and the only way you can choose the start of the week is by manipulating the server locale.
But I think you might be onto something: I suspect the problem are timezones. The Jira server is in Europe with Monday set as start of the week. I'm in Australia, 8 hours in the future...

So are weeks Little Endian or Big Endian?

No. At least in 7.12.1 the only relevant option is a boolean saying "Use ISO8601 standard in Date Picker". I suppose "no" means "use the server locale" but I'll be damned if I try.

That depends on whether you think the part of the week when you're not working is the most significant bit or the least significant bit.

Use ISO8601 standard in Date Picker
That's just about the worst name they could've possibly come up with. The only way it could be worse is if it was some nonsensical unrelated sentence like "kill the animals".

While I love myself a good Jira-baiting, I fail to find fault with that when it has "Turning it on will cause Monday to be the first day of week in the Date Picker, as specified by the ISO8601 standard" below it.

Really? How about what happens when I don't turn it on?

Yeah, could be better. It's probably off by default though so they assume people know what used to happen.

No, that setting controls TASBot at Summer Games Done Quick.

"kill the animals".
Long time watcher, first time donator. Cancer killed my grandfather, so we should save the animals.
