Hmm. Well actually, it also lists the installed software and the running processes.
I guess they're checking to see how easy you'd be to hack (and what antivirus software you're running) and whether if you have anything worth hacking. It doesn't actually include any code to call home, so all of the info that it collects just ends up on the Windows clipboard... they must somehow grab the clipboard contents after the batch script runs.
On the plus side, it's possible that the script didn't actually run, since it would delete itself upon completion. Is your browser configured to download files to the desktop? It may have just been a drive-by download, that was supposed to run, but the exploit they tried to achieve shell and run it didn't work on you... or maybe their shell command expected it to be in
%userprofile%\Downloads
...

It's also supposed to only be used by the headless gaming machine, and indeed is an admin there (the script apparently claims is it not).
Oh well.

We have family history (probably false, but ) on one line back to the Norman conquest.
My family name goes back 13 generations in New Jersey. And the rest of my great-grandparents were immigrants.
-
@dcon Hmm, a branch of my family (great-great-great-...-uncle) moved to NJ probably about that many generations ago. (I'm at work, so I don't have access to my data at the moment.) I wonder if we are related.

@hardwaregeek If you need caffeine that badly, tea probably isn't going to be enough...

Funnier things have happened... (I believe that was the point we immigrated here - supposedly from Wales if I remember... I haven't kept up on the research others have done)

@anotherusername Perhaps, but tea is what I drink, so it's pretty much tea or nothing. I can't stand the taste of coffee. And I'd rather drink tea than most sodas.

Status: This post is from the new house two cities away from the old one, on internet that is miraculously working not twenty minutes after the movers left. Even the dodgy cable connections weren't giving us any issues. Also a minor heart attack when I got an email from Have I Been Pwned telling me Ticketfly got breached, but thank goodness there were no passwords or CC numbers in there.

Yeah, that is definitely the case, but it's also been that way for months now. It isn't a new feature. But maybe they'll come to their senses eventually.
I do hope so. I mean, reducing the amount of bugs and preventing regressions more easily is in anyone's interest, surely.

Status: Played my first CSGO match in half a year. Got very stupid teammates who can barely shot and have no sense of economy at all. One guy was decent but Russian. One guy has 500 ping and asked us to kick him, which we did. Thankfully, the other team was as bad as us. Did a very cheesy ninja defuse in second round, without even a smoke. The first half was 8-7 for us, but we lost a few rounds on T side. Eventually we figured that "rush B" works the best - won like ten rounds that way, and lost every time we mixed up tactics. Final score: 16-13, my stats: 30-7-23. My new rank is Silver Elite Master. Jesus Christ. Time for some involuntary smurfing.

Status: Apparently, there's somebody on my team who got an office during my team's recent move from individual offices to a team-open-office. (There's ~12 of us in a "team space", and ~5 of us in offices.)
I just got out of a 1:1 with my team lead, who says that someone who got one of those offices is debating on moving to the team space, and that if they do, then maybe I could get that office that just opened up.
And dangit, now I'm feeling conflicted. Yeah, I want an office again, but I'm not sure that I want to be singled out to be cut off from my teammates. (I imagine this is what my teammate-in-an-office is feeling, and why they'd want to move to the open space...)

My earliest known ancestor of my surname and his brother who went to New Jersey are 10 generations back from me — 12 generations total including me and my kids — but at least in my branch of the family, generations tend to be spaced more like 30 years apart rather than the nominal 20. 12 generations gets back to the mid-1600s. Somewhere, I have the location in NJ my great-...-great-uncle settled, but I'm surprised to find I don't have it in my database. I want to say Newark, but I don't remember for sure.

Today's the first time in my life i've installed Adblock. For some reason I've always found it easier to just wait 5 secs and skip the ad. Today I lost it after seeing the same ad for more than 50 times in two days fuck that shit.

@stillwater And now uninstall it and replace it with uBlock Origin. Adblock essentially supports allowing businesses to pay to get their ads unblocked.

(A common misconception. The average life expectancy was so low because child mortality was so incredibly high. Once you hit the age of 15-18 or so, your chances of living into your 60s or 70s wasn't that much lower than a modern day person's.)

I remember posting some stuff to some thread around here. The probability of living into your 80s or older has gone up a lot; 60s or 70s has gone up, too, but not as dramatically, since it wasn't so low to begin with. (I.e., I'm agreeing with you, just adding to what you said.)

@mott555 Oh, it's meant to be pulsed, not running at 70-watts continuous.
I wonder if it could run at continuous high power with some kind of liquid-cooling abomination? Or, have an arrangement of them like gatling gun barrels with enough diodes to switch between, acting like one diode at 100% duty cycle. (EDIT: Specsheet says 20ns pulse length. That would be a lot of diodes.)
