Paperclips

@izzion Yeah, it sits there for a while. Make more probes.

Hm, I seem to be stuck at a point where i can't upgrade Von Neumann Probe Design / Trust any further, but no projects pending for it :x
That's linked to the βhonorβ resource, which you'll need to win battles to earn (or play the Threnodies!) but you need to lose battles to unlock it first. Sit tight and wait. And keep growing the number of probes.
I find that the drifters seem to be pretty vulnerable as long as your Combat level is at least 6.
-
I've explored 0.000000000003% of the universe!
-
@dkf
I see my death and kill count in combat going up, but no where that's showing me I'm earning honor
-
@izzion You have to complete a project, which becomes available after enough battles IIRC.

@pie_flavor
#discoverability
Oh, it seems i'm not actually winning any combats. Because why would they tell you you lost, rather than just all the white dots disappearing and then flashing on to the next combat?Also, the mouse over for "speed": "Modifies rate of exploration"
The mouse over for "exploration": "Modifies the rate at which probes gain access to new matter"

You have to unlock that.
Seriously, it couples with the honor system.

Current status:
Things are moving right along. I'm getting close (well, within 3 orders of magnitude) to the limit of available material in the universe. Do we then expand into the multi-verse?

The next stage is SPAAAACE! With Von Neumann Probes.
-
@pie_flavor I just want ooooonnnnneeeee tick so I can go to bed in peace xD

I legitimately don't know which button I'm supposed to click.

This is satisfying.
-
@pie_flavor
I think you may have found the 5 minute mark in the game
-
I found an exploration tick!
-
@dkf And that's the last full game stage. Once you've harvested the universe, that's it.
-
It is like a text based Katamari Damacy but with paperclips... And you aren't making stars.

Current state:
I think the pattern for the Quantum Computing blocks is
the same as the pattern of zeros for a 10-bit unsigned number as it counts up (and cycles) from 0 to 1023. The right-most block is the LSB.This isn't quite right, because half-way through the pattern, every other block is black and the others white, then they switch. Is the pattern the right-most block cycles every "step", the second from the right cycles every other/third/etc.(?) step, and the rest follow suit? Hmmm....

Goddam, maybe I won't continue this on my phone's browser...
-
@Tsaukpaetra He was unsure about which of the two big fat buttons in the middle to click.

To be fair, I would be too. There are more than just two buttons!
-
@pie_flavor So, essentially, at that point you explored the whole universe and turned all of it into paperclips (available matter = 0g)? Sweet.

Hmmm....It looked like they're all just oscillating on their own phases, each different to the others (so there's a phase-beat mechanic going on), and the amount you earn depends on how many are
litdark when you press the button. The super-phase comes round fairly often; hammer that button when it does and otherwise leave alone.

That 6 octillion is just earth.

So uh. I opened this, clicked around for a while, did auto clippers, decided "This is boring," then left.
I appear to have missed a few things. :P

So I left it running last night. When I got up this morning, I had explored the entire universe and converted it to paperclips. The last remaining projects (if you reject the offer and eliminate all value drift permanently) are to disassemble the probes, drones, and factories "for trace amounts of paperclips" and to disassemble the strategy generator, quantum processors, and computational system "for trace amounts of wire." The resulting wire (100 inches) then has to be manually converted into paperclips.
After converting all but 1:

@djls45 The most impressive bit is how they did all this big number math in javascript.
-
@cartman82 Does JavaScript not have anything like BigDecimal from Java?
Edit: Googling says that you have to use some sort of BigInteger library (of which I assume there's probably several with varying capabilities).
-
I'm unsure if my drifter count is going up because combat isn't high enough, or just because my probe count is going up also. I think my probe/drifter ratio is still going up so I probably don't have a problem.
-
@pleegwat Combat only gets you so far; once you can take four to five hits without dying, you should instead invest in duplication (so you can more effectively swarm the enemy).
-
@pleegwat
From what I could tell, drifter birth = f(probe birth [+], probe trust level [+])
-
@pie_flavor Oh yeah, currently I've got 2.2 billion probes and 80 million drifters. I've got a feeling my ratios are off cause it ran overnight despite the PC being asleep.
-
@pleegwat said in Paperclips:

Sounds like a healthy ratio. Get that probe birth rate and the universal exploration rate up (so also boost the speed). Once you get into a nice exponential growth, there's not much left to do except to sit and wait for the end.
-
@dkf Yup, the end was about 3 hours after that post. The final major discovery was that you don't really need to have drone production enabled permanently, like with factories you just need to switch it in for a couple seconds whenever you get surplus in the supply chain.
