@JBert that was a commercial break. Did you think this site was free?
I realise I had a time-out but last I checked, threads were free?
-
@Arantor Gribnit might be emulating YouTube's midroll ads, that's how they get you.
-
@JBert I pay for YouTube Premium for precisely this reason.

Same. And also for being able to use YT Music on my phone for workout music
-
@izzion I have it across multiple devices for coding background music etc.
I’m also very much in the camp of folks who will pay for a subscription to content if I feel it’s worth it - at least that’s how Patreon gets a 3-figure sum from me each month…

The Animals - House of the Rising Sun (1964) High Quality [HQ].flv – 04:09
— Joseph BreenAt one time, my dad worked for the company that, in addition to making their own electronic stuff, was the US importer for the Vox organ you see in the thumbnail image. (The guitars might also be by Vox. The video is too low-res to make out enough detail to be certain, but the bass looks very similar to other guitars Vox made.)
-
@HardwareGeek huh okay, Vox, I was wondering. Seemed too early for Moog. This video quality is bizarrely high as well. When is this recording?
-
@Gribnit wrote something coherent:
@HardwareGeek huh okay, Vox, I was wondering. Seemed too early for Moog.
The name "VOX" is clearly visible in the thumbnail. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had a clue, either. Although my dad worked with them (tangentially; he mostly worked with the US importer's own products, specifically home organs), that was ~50 years ago; I'm hardly an expert.
This video quality is bizarrely high as well. When is this recording?
The video title says 1964. The video is only 240p. I'd guess it's been remastered, since the original was almost certainly interlaced, and possibly colorized from a B&W original.
-
@HardwareGeek It's interesting there's a period of time for which video resolution will always be worse that recordings made before, because it's been digitized to a certain lower resolution and there is no film to re-scan.

Parts of the video are silent, I assume because it was triggering a copyright notice or something.

There's an audio-only version without the silent parts here:
