Whom should I write in?
-
I got my sample ballot this week. Apparently, my Congressman, a Democrat, is running unopposed. Obviously I will not vote for him.
If you were me, what would you put in for a write in candidate?
-
Donald Trump for @boomzilla town senator!

Vote xoF@!TDEMSYR. Hillary!
C'mon guys...like...if I write something in, there's a chance someone will look at it. Should I write in:
"The Democrats, Fuck"
...or what? Let's put the TDWTF trolling brain to work for something that won't actually mean something but might amuse someone who could not even conceive of TDWTF!

I like your enthusiasm, but I suspect the nuance would be lost on a Fairfax County vote counter. FYI:

Do not vote. Old people should not vote:
-
Old people aren’t good at voting. I don’t simply mean that they don’t vote like I do, or I would also say that old people are bad at watching TV, picking restaurants and gauging my interest in stories about their friends’ children. No, old people vote shortsightedly, choosing the least progressive outcome. In surveys in the U.S. and the U.K., people over 65
[snip]don't vote like I do.This made sense to me, since I would not want a really old guy working on my sewer pipes.
???
The best guy I hired was a really old guy.
Wow... youth privilege.
I bet you could keep old people from voting by requiring people to pass a voter's test.
But one challenge of arguing with older people is that because of all the cable-news watching and Founding Father — book reading, they know more.
Fuck intelligence, experience, knowledge, facts. I know in my gut what to do...
My dad mentioned stare decisis, using Edmund Burke’s argument that society is so complex that radical change often has horrible unintended negative consequences such as Napoleon, communism and that horrible rap music.
Fuck the complexity and cost of change. It's necessary because raisins.
He also argued that experts are often wrong
Fuck climate scientists... I know more than they do from my couch.
-
@dse @boomzilla So, here's my translation.
We need to do this progressive because of raisins, and progressivism should never stop, ever.
Now, I have nothing against old people. It's not that they vote differently than I do, but they vote differently than I do. And we all know that being upset about illegal immigration means you hate all immigrants, especially Mexicans. So they're all bigots.
And because they're so many of these old people, we should just ban them from voting. Not because they don't vote like I do, but they don't vote like I do.
But all these old people are knowledgeable experts, and have a better grasp of the consequences of certain decisions. So I asked my dad, and he totally crushed me by every measure of a reasonable debate.
So I rang up my favorite "Cliche Confirmation Bias Bro" and asked him for some gobbledegoop to throw back at all this logic. He came up with the idea that voter's rights should require some form of test, and that voter's tests have never been a bad idea in the past. It made sense to me because, I've never needed plumbing done by old people. They must suck at everything.
When I explained this idea to my mom, I completely forgot our whole discussion and boiled it down to a series of emotions in my mind, because women and emotions am-i-rite?
But, we'll face a challenge, because Supreme Court justices have old people bias, because they're old. So, let's make voting more technology based, because old-people-hate-technology cliche.

The right wing people don't like the first amendment and the left wing people don't like the second one, so you should probably run on the third amendment:
No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

@Jaloopa I've read it several times, and I can't salvage anything if any of it is a joke.

@xaade poe's law. Can't be entirely sure if it's satire or serious because there probably are people who will read it and agree

Yes. It's either all a joke, or it's all serious.
Given that I just read an article a couple of weeks ago saying that millennials should get social security payouts because old people earn more...
I responded by saying, "I hope I earn more when I get older, not less". At which point a bunch of unemployed college grads
kindlylet me know that I wouldn't need it when I was older.

@xaade are we still talking about the article or is that a statement about life in general?

Apparently you can just campaign on snapchat, and then all the old people won't know about the election. Two problems solved.

TIL I'm an old person. Isn't that the one where you send people pictures of your penis and they get deleted after 5 seconds except for the screenshot people always take?
-
@Jaloopa Clearly an old person. The signs of independent thought give it away.
-
@cvi but I don't turn 31 until Sunday. My lawn is unkempt and I don't care if kids walk on it
-
@Jaloopa That makes you just old, but not quite yet boomzilla-old.

@cvi Apparently being old means having had lived with the suggested changes before, and being able to recognize that it didn't make things better.
