RE: What are the rules for sockpuppets here?
@otter I'm inclined to say, "Don't be a dick," but that would eliminate most of the non-sockpuppet accounts, too.

My son sent me this. It's not new, but I don't remember seeing it posted here before.

RE: Gululu - The Interactive Water Bottle Tracker
@PJH What exactly does it track? Does it track the bottle's location? 'Cuz for $129, my biggest concern would be, where did my kid leave it when he ran off to play?

RE: WTF Bites
The Register asked Apple about its patent strategy, just because we enjoy the ritual of sending email and having it ignored.

All of Google? I am now hoping that Google bombards you with Coldplay 24/7.

@Arantor You're not supposed to enjoy punishment. And if you do, there's a thread for that .

It feels more than ever like delivery is a miracle.
You must not have enough s to remember the Good Old Days before DNS. Instead of
username@domain
, email addresses were of the formserver1!server2!server3!username
. If any of those servers happened to be down when the previous server tried to forward the mail through them, your mail just silently disappeared into a black hole, never to be seen again. There was no rerouting around a failed server; if the exact path you specified wasn't available, no mail for you. -

“Boohoo, it only takes 3 minutes to create a superfluous account you don’t want, give out your email address to be harvested and manage more 2FA shit”.
Yeah, fuck you.One of my favorite games, Cities: Skylines II (CS2) from Paradox Interactive, has always wanted you to sign into a Paradox account. It would nag quietly, once in a while, but it's completely playable without one.
Since the game was first announced last year, they've also promised modding support through an official Paradox mod store. (The original CS had an extensive modding community through the Steam Workshop. The only problem was that every game update broke most of the mods. We all hope this can be avoided with official support and source for mods. Mods won't break your game, and (we hope) game updates won't break your mods.)
After a delay of several months, the mod store is finally available. The only problem is that it requires a Paradox account to install any mods.

I've contacted customer support about repair/replacement. Who knows how long that will take?
About 5 days, plus transit time, apparently. The necessary part is currently out of stock.

dedicated ventilated space
It depends on the resin you use, but even the low-odor resins aren't pleasant. And on the printer; there are some with built-in activated charcoal filters. I don't know how effective they are; neither of mine have them, so I have no experience. An open window with a fan pulling the fumes out may be enough, at least with low-odor resins and a filter. You'd also have to be meticulous about cleaning up spills thoroughly and disposing of gloves, paper towels, and anything else that might have residue promptly. Still, you'd want to have it in something like a spare bedroom, not a room you inhabit constantly.
So yeah, pretty much a dedicated hobby/craft room with good ventilation, although it doesn't need to be dedicated exclusively to printing.
Edit: I a word.
