Replying to yourself, how low have you fallen?
Lunchtime, and I've got this topic mixed up with the "Likes" topic.

@Nagesh, this one's for you.
Sometimes I just can't wait though and detonate the bomb myself.
I feel like a 5 year old at christmas.
How did you find this?
You must have missed it, 75% of my replies since last week have been delayed mention-bombs of different types.
I'm mildly amused by the fact that Discourse sent me an E-mail notification for @HardwareGeek's post which quoted @darkmatter (in the same thread!) which mentioned my name.
It gets better... you can split usernames with html to delayed notify people when/if someone quotes you. It's like a hidden joke bomb for @FILE_NOT_FOUND that may or may not ever be activated.
I have to admit I'm actually mildly surprised @FILE_NOT_FOUND is a real user.
TBH, I was going to register @FILE_NOT_FOUND, that's how I found out they existed already. I was kind of sad about it.
@FILE_NOT_FOUND is found, seems like that is the winner here.

@mikeTheLiar
@mikeTheLiar
why does @mikeTheLiar only half work
I had intended to use reply, but clicked on the wrong reply button. Then I said fuck it, and added your @tag instead.
Full Quote Reply for wins.
Nah, it's just doing normal oneboxing on the replies. I'm abusing the stripping of HTML tags by the Quote reply feature. I put a <randomgibberish></randomgibberish> tag around part of the URL or @Matches to get it to not auto-onebox or auto-mention. When one replies, the HTML is stripped and the auto-features do their magic to the reply text.
Quote @Mat<fu>ches for replymentions only.
Mix-n-match injections are fun.
Now maybe? - woo it works. Expanding my quote de-oneboxes it. ha.
Thank you toasters, I realize I have posted 2 replies, I can still remember what I've done in the last 5 minutes. Is this thing written for someone with Alzheimers?
Mix-n-match injections are fun.I will make you onebox this for me
Take that onebox. Quote replying me autofills my boxes of one. Wonder how that looks in the quote expansion dropdown... does it break now like with nested quotes or editted quotes, even though I didn't nest or edit anything?
Oh, I quoted all, so no expansion. Time to try again.
Mix-n-match injections are fun.

I will make you onebox this for me
I'm not sure I really want to get rid of weird Markdown quirks. It reminds me of the good old CS days.
I agree. These broken things are the best of the best, as long as they're not so broken that they make it harder to read the forums. @cough @infiniscroll #cough @mikeTheLiar
Lets try that with @mentions...so if I do @mikeTheLiar and you quote me, have you just been accidentally @mikeTheLiared?Even better, will the wrong @mikeTheLiar of the 2 above end up being mentioned?
Awesome. It does.
Lets try that with @mentions...
so if I do @mikeTheLiar and you quote me, have you just been accidentally @mikeTheLiared?
Even better, will the wrong @mikeTheLiar of the 2 above end up being mentioned?
"do multiline blockquoteswork?"Nope.
Beat me to it.
However, quote-replying your multi-line quotes turns them into single line quotes with greyboxing....
"what the heck"
"Hit in the nuts"
I'd like to "hit" that. Works.
"hit" me. Also Works.
Apparently you have to leave a blank line after a quoted text to get the grey-box of doom. Otherwise it leaves the quotes alone.
That would drive me nuts. I can't handle outstanding notifications of any kind, I must click them all away.
Testing transient display bugs vs broken a@mikeTheLiar @mikeTheLiar links
Ninja edit x2: That's disappointing it's a transient display bug.
Ooops, not @mikeTheLiar-y enough.
Discourse hurts my head.
Now you're ninja editing in replies to my ninja edits of replies to your replies and the entire continuity of this thread is broken.
Nah, that's a bug in Discourse.
Steps to reproduce:
Yeah, that broken link managed to shove the post always to the bottom of the discussion. @mikeTheLiar can use that to be assured of getting the last word in.
Ninja edit: It slotted my post in between the reply you made and the post you ninja edited.
Nah, that's a bug in Discourse. If you refresh, my post won't be on the bottom anymore.
@mikeTheLiar will be okay.
Note to readers: I did not post 4 times in a row.... there were replies between these as well as ninja edits above me that I replied to! Don't be confused, just know that this was or was not the last thing I posted in this series.
How do I see your quote post before the post it quoted?
I posted 2x and then ninja edited the 2nd post. Maybe my ninja did it. Or @mikeTheLiar
It's a good thing your'e saying ninja-edit on your edits or no one would have aclue what order to read any of this in.
I already don't know and I was watching it happen.
Sweet.
I broke the space-time continuum.
It's all that @darkmatter.
Impressed @mikeTheLiar will be.
Does this work or just make both a broken link and a broken notification?
Nope, no alertification happening there for @mikeTheLiar .
1 I think we should let @darkmatter in on the fun, too.
Okay now you're combining topics, you're going to confuse everyone.
At first I thought you were just trying to crash my browser again, but they fixed that bug. Then I realized I was username-d.
I should have made my name @*matter but I'm sure the special character would have caused the name to be rejected.
Yeah, Discurse seems to strip all style attributes, too, so you cannot use "display: none" or even white text on white bg to make your @mikeTheLiar invisible, either.
Now... how can we get around those things.... Does this work or just make both a broken link and a broken notification? Do @mikeTheLiar noficalertions count if it's just in a quote??
My nickname is just from the astrophysics term, darkmatter. At the time I first used it in 2001, it was almost never taken anywhere. First use was in an old MMORPG called Ragnarok Online. Since then, I've adopted the "matter" portion of the name to create alternate character names like lightmatter, antimatter, dontmatter, whatsamatter, etc.
Now it is more frequently already in use, and I tend to register darkmattar (like on the TDWTF CS forums) as an alternative because that's never taken. The misspelling as -ar instead of -er came from the common typo meme.
TES! Of course. I just never put the two together before. Love that game series though.
And the forum truly has now turned into 4chan /b/ for coders
A hilarious thread, as I set here talking shop with 4 IBM contractors about purchasing yet another IBM appliance. Sure, google searches from the general public for IBM may be down, but given their aim as far as I knew is big business, I doubt they really give a crap about that.
And the discussion on Discourse is almost entirely about Discourse and not TDWTF.
Because Discourse is the real WTF now!
With discourse we are on bleeding age of technology.
Anytime you go on the bleeding age, it is bound to cause some hick-ups.
Thats something pagination handles pretty well
Must be your imagination; pagination doesn't work because Jeff says so.
Well, after 4 days, and the results pretty closely fit a bell curve, aside from the dip in the middle.
Pretty interesting. I wonder if any of the 3 or 4 people who ditched the forums altogether came back to vote.
I personally find both the liberals and conservatives in this country (USA) to be immoral, unethical, nasty, brutish people. Oddly enough, I tend to really offend them.
Exactly. Which is how I've offended all the people here, and why they all seem to think I'm a liberal. I was going to offend whichever party is the most represented, and that appears to be rightwingers, which makes me look left wing. On most tests for party-leaning, I score as fiscally conservative by a mile, and moderate in most other areas. True fiscal conservatism, not the "fiscal conservatism" rampant in the republican party of late, which has been about promising less taxes all the while keeping the same amount of government crap and more or less the same amount of spending.
Had this been a forum full of liberals, I'd have taken them to task for stupid things random liberals want to do, like outlaw soda. But it's not. If I wanted to see people make fun of liberals in a room full of conservatives, I'd turn on Fox news.
Sort of off by 1, but the same 1 every time. there was 1 post stuck at the
bottom as if it was stickied to the end of the page. Everything else
inserted normally in relation to each other, but before that one post that
twas stuck at the end.
he's from Australia
Oh. Jeez, right winger probably means liberal communist there for all I know ;)
No wonder.
And seriously, I'm out - gotta go. Will read later if this hasn't hit like 500 posts by tonight!
Also, did you not read the maybe half-dozen times I said I'm not for the minimum wage increase because I don't think it will help anything because the C-Levels in charge will inflate everything and cut benefits to make up the difference, so effectively nothing changes except middle classers who already made 15$+ get fucked?
So yea.
Hmmm, how many companies out there actually have more than one CEO? I think you meant executive officers.
I did, and I corrected it later. C-Level. Not executive officers or CEOs. C-Level Officers.
Ha.
And I named a ton of real world examples of right-wing behaviors, so I fail to see how Mott could not know a right-winger that "agrees with anything in my assessment".... That's no assessment, those are real things going on in the real world.
Most people consider me a right-winger, and most people in my circle are right-wingers too. I don't know any right-winger who would agree with anything in your assessment of right-wingers.
Really? You must not read a lot of political news...?
Hell, just this week Rick Perry compared Homosexuality to Alcoholism as a reason that it should be legal to have camps for "correcting" homosexuality....
But we kill animals all the time without their consent. Is that worse? I think having sex with animals is gross and possibly dangerous, but it doesn't seem wrong to me in the same way as murdering a person does.
Anyway, I've got to head to an event, so no more quick-replies. It was a good discussion, and I have definitely learned some on the topics.
Hmm...a quick search shows that their old law is still on the book. It's a dead letter though, as I mentioned already.
Yep, it is still on several states' books. They all had to repeal the regular sodomy laws, but did not all have to repeal the homosexuality laws I believe.
note I'm not gay, but I believe it is a perfectly fine thing to be.
Hell, I'm not religious, but it is also a perfectly fine thing to be.
But in both cases, no one religion nor one sexual preference should ever be forced on everyone, and especially not by a governmental body.
Good euphemism
Also, the first person to say it's a gateway to sex with animals is an idiot.
Homosexuality (really, ALL sexuality which is legal) is between consenting people.
Animals can not consent. Same as rape. Or children, who can not legally consent, which is also rape.
It is not some magical gateway because there is a clearly defined line.
The problem now is that there are several states with representatives moving to put those laws back into place, especially for homosexuality. See - Kansas, for one.
It is also an almost entirely Republican-backed thing. Though that is irrelevant, it doesn't matter who backs it, they should not be in office, and their party should be ashamed.
