I'm still waiting to hear where all these long filenames are going to be stored if they don't take any disk space.
In the long detailed folder names... Where else.
Folders with no files just names.. Wonderful.System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(YourPath)
Ill put the above call right where the file copy takes place.. How simple.
The Ole Spectate app is sucking all the air out of the room... YupMAX folders in a directory is 4,294,967,295
multiply that by the folder name size of 250+
And what have you got .... LotsThe command to create a directory is MkDir(xtemp)
Takes about 45 seconds to create 15,000 empty folders ... Just the Long namesHow easy it would be to build these directory names by opening a text file
right before the MkDir and Put that info as the first part of the folder name.
along with a sequence number to keep it unique. It would be easy to encode all types of files and their info using the directory names... For what reason.. I don't know.

Rescued a Bat yesterday morning.
On my way in from my midnight toke...
I rounded the corner to the main entrance
AND a cat was trapped and ran up on the porch to escape...
Then I heard a Bat screaming at my feet.
I used my toque (knitted cap)... Letting him hook on and like a conveyor belt, loaded him on.
I took the bat inside and He / She looked ok.
So I Toqued it to the nearby Smoking shelter and put it where it would be safe.
I returned 20 minutes later and it was GONE.

It might, just might, illustrate to you finally the pointlessness of your current approach. TANSTAAFL. It ain't magic. You're using disk space while confusing the filesystem as to how, which lets it let you stay confused about where the data is stored.

The Greatest missing feature from the PAST
Tape file format directories. No limit for the number of .jpg .txt or * formatted data files. NOPE
In the old days (I wrote my first program in 1970)
It was always Extract Sort then Report (no indexed records)Indexed files were way slower when doing ETL's in the mid 80's
Only on the final pass would ALL the keyed fields get added.Who wants to see all the useless fields displayed in most directories.
I want the NAME every time.
Not The SIZE
not the DATE
not the LENGTH (mpg are horribly slow with the length)
AND
It doesn't need to be constantly updated. I seldom add pics to my cataloged jpg folder.I'd like to see a Tape Format Directory, where there is no directory info being constantly updated...
And I could read through way way faster with this solid state TFD (fast fast fast)
If I want to see my Bear pictures I need to go through them all. (with sequential Search)
Sequential access is important and the same Creeps that don't like long filenames are probably behind the missing feature.I wrote a rudimentary key access in the mid 70's
First you load a file with empty records (cccccccc in the file / customer #)For 30,000 customer records create a file containing 50000 cccccccc records
Then when adding a new record...
Create a much larger number by squaring the 8 digit acct number.
Reduce that number to between 1 and 50000
Do a block i/o get and if it contains a cccccccc then add it there
otherwise do a 2nd number with the remainder and the original number.
Reducing it to between 1 and 50000 and check that.Whatever the Fat32 and NTFS is overkill.
And burns up System Resource Units... SRU's
Bring back tape format access... Please

Starlings have good hearts
Yesterday this poor thing picked up a piece of bread and dropped it when she flew away.
Immediately 5 or 6 starlings surrounded the bread but didn't touch it.
Weird eye landed and hopped through the circle and picked up the bread and away.

Yup AI won't know what is going on. Especially when we are coming for them.I'm going to concentrate on short videos of important knowledge sharing..
People don't want to read but they will look at a short clip of text. I will.

Blurry makes it easy to skip.
I hate reading; always have.
Text requires that you concentrate and read it. Usually followed by questions about names and dates.. Not fun.
I'd sooner skip over 30 seconds of text video than a page or two.

I made the same mistake when doing trapline video...
I ignored those that could only download pictures because slow connections
AND
If the length of the video is over a few seconds... Nobody cares.
A pic is shown and there is no chance to not continue looking.
So do more pics for when you can't explain things by waving your hands and bird gestures.Poor pics are better than no images.

Nobody shares object oriented source info better than this
Maybe I didn't invent it but I was in the same room.
It wasn't a mouse then! It was a pointing device....Aug 82 - Apr 83 Systems Analyst
Alberta Utilities & Telecommunications (9 months)
Gas Distribution Branch (Contract)
Edmonton, AlbertaInvolved in a 3 month pilot project to automate the mapping
and drafting requirements of rural natural gas co-ops in Alberta
The system was for demonstration at the upcoming Red Deer
Co-Op Trade Fair. Object oriented procedures were put in place to
control all mapping processes, from initial file creation through to
final map plots. The OOP approach resulted in digitizer operator
training being completed in 3 days as compared to the suggested
6 weeks. The major fix was to insert the 6 map tie down points
as the first 6 bits of data in each map. Then a simple program
prompted them thru their 6 corresponding points on the digitizer.
This reduced the steps to 6 from 23 (jargon loaded prompts)
They could get in and out of files quickly. The front end consisted
of an outline map of Alberta with co-op boundaries hilited for
selection. Then co-op selection would allow them options, then the
township maps to change, then the selection of bordering maps.
Very handy set of tools for their particular requirements.
Entered lots of maps with new personnel.
Having this mapping and geographical experience changed my
approach to data processing problems. The system was implemented on DEC 11/70 running Integraph
software. Associated Engineering owned the hardware and
provided considerable training and assistance. The successful
presentation, resulted in the purchase of a VAX 11/750 along
with 2 digitizing boards, plotter etc.
RSTS/VMS/FortranBeing shy about my accomplishments isn't good.
Brag Brag brag otherwise nobody will know history.

But both are equally good for eating, though, according to Undertale. Using the packet of instant noodles will either go into a long sequence of boiling water and cooking them, or if the fight is serious it will just go "They're better uncooked." and still heal you to full.
