If you’re blindly copying it
I blindly copied, past-tense.
Now that I'm actually writing the appropriate code, I've reduced much of it by about 70 percent.
Like, for example, did you know that the
Sequelize
library provides appropriate validation for the entities? For some reason, we're rolling our own duplication of that functionality instead of attempting to update the entity and catching theSequelize.ValidationError
if it happens.I don't know why we're duplicating functionality, especially as the validation rules are also duplicated. Like, define them once, what the hell?
Well you need to validate before you do any business logic.
When the validation is the business logic you gotta break the egg inside the chicken.
That's easy. You grab the chicken by the neck and bang it on the table a couple-three times.
I'd rather just choke it.
You're not gonna win any championships that way. Consider the over the shoulder boner honer.
Was "over-the-shoulder boner honer" a Cheech n' Chong gag or a Kentucky Fried Movie (or similar movie) gag? It's somewhere between 1975 and 1985 and the Internet ain't helping.
Obscure joke provenances matter.
ed. he tried to think of "another movie, like Kentucky Fried Movie but different" and came up with a picture of the vhs cover for what turned out to be "airplane"...
