@Shirley, skipping ticks is a symptom of reduced processing capability—
Shirley, the (outside) time required for processing should be completely irrelevant.
Maybe the Powers that Be care less about accuracy of simulation and more about the smooth 60FPS experience.

Yeah, I'm afraid I don't share Raymond Chen's analysis of those situations.
#1: there's nothing wrong with the original sentence in that context ; a native could have said exactly the same. The other person is deliberately being a asshole.
#2: seems strange. It should be obvious from context, even if you don't get the word quite right.
#3: it's not just vowels not lining up, it's that "eau" maps to a single vowel ("o"), not three. If you consider that it makes the language fragile, you could say the same about English.
#4: seems strange, too. Sure, "liste des vins" isn't the usual way of saying it, but it's perfectly clear.

From what I've heard (I've never been there), I'll bet they were in Paris.

This reminds me of @HardwareGeek, because unless ’d, he’s likely to point out that /oʊ/ is two vowel sounds.

In short - he forgot to account for how much of dickheads French people are when it comes to language purity.

True, but only for #1. #2 and #4 sound like they genuinely couldn't understand, even if I don't understand why. And #3 is just the French language being difficult for people who think there should be any link between how words sound and how they're spelled.

French are masters of pretending to not understand. They're so good many people think they honestly don't. At least that's the stereotype we have in Poland. The three attributes of a Frenchman: a weird beret, a baguette, and pretending to not understand you.
Edit: and a white flag. FOUR attributes of a Frenchman... I'll come in again.

So, French people in Poland smell good?
-
@Gąska: If by "French" you mean "Paris residents", that's fair.
By the way, the beret is essentially a rarely-used legacy feature nowadays, but the baguette is still in active development.

Pretty sure you meant 'use'. Because if you try to develop it any more, the purists will hang you from any convenient object.

Maybe it's me being an optimist again but he can't possibly be that ignorant. He's just subtly making fun of how the French love to be dickhead language Nazis without actually saying they are.

You appear to be under the impression that baguettes are highly standardised. This may be the case if you buy it at a supermarket, but if you buy it at the local boulangerie (and you really should, in most regions) what you get will vary a lot from place to place.

That's basically the concept of lingerie, yes. I generally like it when girls wear all the accessories and none of the actual clothes. Skirts without panties are another favorite.

This reminds me of when a friend said his favorite part of the tubgirl website was the socks.
