@remi I'd only use that if
a
was being used as a boolean or success value throughout, not if I'm counting or doing math on it.
-
@PleegWat I guess you're not a proponent for
!!a
to convert it to a boolean...
-
@cvi
!!
is different (visually) from one!
twice.

if (ptr != nullptr)

@dcon I stay away from
!length
but won't hesitate to use!ptr
. Yes, I'm weird.

works well (and I use that here too). It's the other case that causes code-smells with SonarQube - so I try to use!!
, but coworkers get bent out of shape by that. sigh.
-
@PleegWat I've started to do that too (i.e.
0 == length
but also!ptr
). I think there the explicit comparison does add something. Also, explicitly saying0.f == floatVal
and similar.
-
-
@error Which is just as well.

Oh, that explains it. I was wondering why you do
!!
in a language that absolutely never needs it.
-
@cvi I guess it's because for pointers there is not really any other literal value you'd generally be comparing to.

50 millions pounds
of what, though?
Either way, sounds heavy and difficult to store.

@boomzilla And that's what management expects you to deliver towards the customer. Just as little as possible which could make the contract look fulfilled. If the customer complains, well, all the shit starts, with extra work, but rarely with new additional contracts and money...

If I got to choose, possibly antimatter, I hear it's the most expensive thing per weight there is.

@Carnage said in Things that remind you of WDTWTF members:
antimatter
but wouldn't it be
antipounds
then?

@error I came here to post this.

I am reminded of @darkmatter.

@topspin That's not how permanently works.
-
@PleegWat it’s permanent if you pay enough up-front.

One should never charge more for silence than what a competent assassin costs. Probably even leave some room to the cost of the assassin, since that solution guarantees silence.

guarantees silence
Wouldn't that depend on the assassin? Why would we think they are good at their job? That's counter expectations.

I said competent assassin. That would assume that they are competent.
-
@Carnage Wait .. you did.

Just because they charge the competent assassin rate does not mean they are good at the job.

Yeah, the whole 20 years of experience, or 1 year of experience 20 times.

I hope someone replied "Overtly lying and pissing off your user base before an IPO".

Oh, reddit itself was indeed mentioned, just in a different way.
