E_WONT_FIX_AS_DESIGNED
BROKEN_BY_DESIGN_WORKS_AS_CODED
Somebody else can link the Markdown spec but this is most definitely NOTABUG
I know, but can we fix it anyway?

I hit F5 very soon after editing and it dropped me on some random page with "undefined" in URL, which of course wasn't found. I don't have the full URL because I didn't think of saving it - sorry.
Edit: trying to reproduce.
Edit 2: could not reproduce
Edit 3: got it again. It seems like it's specific to that one Salon thread. It might be related to Salon missing from category list.

I hit F5 yesterday and got an empty composer pop up for a new post in a totally different topic. That I've not been in for months.
-
@loopback0 yesterday I've got 4 boobies with 4 old post drafts from 4 different topics. My theory is that they've added the ability to write multiple posts at once, and made it so every unfinished post you ever had (that was previously only accessible if you tried to reply in the thread where you had the draft) pops up as a boobie on first(ish) visit. The undefined thing is something unrelated.
-

That's been available for a long time, and I've even seen it popup an old composer that I had long since forgotten about before (not yesterday)

Yes, multiple composers open has technically been a thing for a while, it just usually never showed them on refresh unless you specifically went to the topic they were intended for and started a reply there.
This has apparently been partially remedied. Exposing the original bug. Yay!
Edit:
-
Starting a new chat with anybody in one tab causes all other tabs to blink their page titles with the message "X has sent you a message". Even before a single letter is typed by either person. I believe that's new.

Also you started a completely empty chat with me that was marked as unread somehow.
-
@ben_lubar whoops. So that's 2 new bugs! And I know it's new because otherwise you'd complain before.
-
We've got some un-decoded HTML entities in the fixed topic title area

-
Light theme vs. dark theme, obviously

Wasn't even sure what it was until I moved the icon down.
I had no idea that's what it was. What possible use is that? In case you forget your name?
You joke but that's not so easy for some of us.
Since we are all @boomzilla, shouldn't that be "any of us"?
-
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but are the forums abnormally slow to load for others today?

Yes, it's not been announced, but exporting your data bogs down the site for everyone on that node. It should subside in a day or two.

Don't know if this has always been the case, but avatar name bubbles are getting cut off in the topic list, at least in Firefox on Lunix
-
Just now, I had 3 unread notifications that lead to invalid links. Based on their URL, they were chat messages.

The group chat that the messages were in got disbanded.

Now that you mention it, it has been. Would expect the notifications to be cleared too.

@hungrier Pretty sure it's new.
Firefox, Windows.

Can't seem to complete a specific post in a specific topic, until I reloaded the page, anyway.
e: wait, yes I could. It just didn't update the thread so I could see it. Goddammit.

I didn't know NodeBB had a telegraph compatibility mode.
-
I'm sure it's been mentioned before, possibly even by me, but...
-
Bug status: apparently getting an upvote on a post that's been downvoted first doesn't get you a notification (ass-pull: notifications only happen when upvote and score > 0?).
Though on that occasion I'm quite glad someone felt butt-hurt enough to downvote me, I take that as proof I was right to post it (it's a post, you won't get a link).
-
@remi Which setting have you got for notifications?
-
@loopback0 Infielder on second base. Or maybe endofunctor monography?
No idea. Probably the default ones, I don't remember having changed much settings.
-
@remi Wondered if it was something with the "1st, 5th, 10th" etc setting, but guess not

You may be reading too much into that (or too little). People have different reasons for downvoting. I'm sure some people downvote things they disagree with or feel insulted by, but I generally only downvote people who are intentionally antagonistic or obviously arguing in bad faith.

That's TDWTF, that's part of what we do

Wow, you must be downvoting 99% of garage posts then...

There are a few regular down voters. They're mostly predictable. But occasionally it's some guy with three comments in 10 years.

@boomzilla I occasionally downvote someone by trying to scroll on my phone.
-
@HardwareGeek that, too.

This is probably at least 50% of the downvotes I've done. I usually catch it, though...
(The other 50% is Lucas...)

Can’t upload images anymore.
<toaster style="red"> ERROR Something went wrong while parsing server response

@topspin Refreshing usually fixes it.

Now here’s a one:
More generally,
I get how does its emoji suggestions, but why do left and right double quotation marks bring up Japanese
[FOO]
buttons?(And I still want to know why
:trigger
suggests )
-
(And I still want to know why
:trigger
suggests )Likely because of the Unicode name "Raised hand with part between middle and ring fingers"
-
Maybe something about non-ascii characters makes the parser just throw up its hands and think you're talking Japanese?
-
E_RESOLVED
And in that vein, looking into it some more the Japanese ideographs might hook into names like
Japanese “Acceptable” Button
, except I can’t get suggestions to appear with any of that additional context. Maybe it’s literally just“Acceptable”
.

If I go to a subcategory from a post on the topic list, then press back, I get a blank page with a privilege error toaster
e: It may only be certain categories. It happens consistently for me with "Funny stuff" but e.g. Bugs and General don't do it.
-
@hungrier Yeah, that bug has been around forever, and it still hasn't been fixed.
-
@HardwareGeek I've seen random privilege errors before but I don't think I've ever noticed this one until now.
-
@hungrier Well, if search worked, you could find previous discussion of it.

I don't recall seeing this until recently.

I have it pretty frequently. But only on mobile. So now I only use the in-page buttons, not the back button.

I use pagination (50 posts per page), so I can use the browser's "forward" and "back" buttons to change which page of a thread I'm on.
I don't think I would dare to predict where I'd go if I was using infini-scroll and tried to click the browser's "back" button.
-
@djls45 It usually takes me back to the top of whatever page (unread, recent, notifications) I came from. Exceptions are category pages (toaster) or intra-topic navigation (usually, the top of the previously loaded "chunk"; occasionally, the top of the topic).
