Wow, you're seriously behind the times. I think you need the Kool-Aid directly infused into your veins to have any chance to catch up with the latest fads.
Nah, people used to do fixed release date all the time. It's only you silly software industry who insists that your product will be updated whenever you feel like it.
I never bought a car that needed a first day patch.
In its third “State of Recalls” report, Recall Masters, the automotive industry’s leading provider of recall solutions, revealed that more than 32.7 million affected vehicles were accounted for in recalls mandated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in calendar year 2018. Another estimated 159 “voluntary manufacturer notice” campaigns affected a minimum of 14.5 million vehicles. While many vehicles have more than one defect present, the 2018 total of 47.2 million affected vehicle recalls translates to more than one in four vehicles on US roads with at least one open recall. With an estimated 276.1 million registered vehicles in the country, the threat to drivers and passengers is greater than ever.
And yet, the total number of automotive recalls fell to 30.7 million units last year [2017], which is the fewest number of models taken back by their makers for needed inspections and repairs since 2013, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. By comparison, 17.6 million new vehicles were sold during 2017, which means the industry still recalled around 74% more cars and trucks than it delivered to consumers.
Still, that represents a considerable drop over 2016’s campaigns, which affected a record 53 million models, with a large number of them credited to the ongoing Takata airbag debacle.

You really thing Microsoft will allow Google that close to the internals of their browser?
That depends entirely on whether Microsoft will attempt to undermine Google's upcoming effort of breaking adblockers.
Honestly, if they do that, they might actually have a shot. Oh, how the tables could turn.

Early car models have more design and systematic issues that later models. And once you start tuning a car, it becomes delicate and easy to have issues.
It's always funny when people claim that cars are like something with magically less bugs than software, because that's simply not true. If users can get around getting used to quirks of their car, why can't you do the same for softwares? Oh wait, typical users does get used to inconveniences, it's only you snowflakes who complain about every tiniest details
It gets really scary when you realise there's software in the car:

So after you bought that car and try to go for your first trip you have to wait 5 hours for updates to download? Didn't think so.
Hopefully, your dealer patched everything before you drive the car off the lot, but yea sometimes you have to come in for recalls, some of which could take 5 hours.

I must be honest, I loved Meteora (or was it Hybrid Theory?) when it came out. All the songs had the same unimaginative bloody structure: intro, {rapped verse, emo-screamo chorus} x 2, melodic middle eight with some rap thrown in, chorus, outro.
But they all rocked.

Yes. And no (just Defender, and that is set to ignore my build dirs).
CEF is just freaking massive. And has it's own build system. (Actually, thinking about it, I think it took about 3 hrs on my machine. And 6-7 on my co-workers. The difference? 32G vs 16G memory. And his machine own shutdown because of heating issues.)
-
@dcon makes me wonder if it’d build faster if you copied the source and output dirs to a RAM drive. Not that the OS’s cache shouldn’t manage that automatically for you, but it rarely does.
-
@topspin said in Firefox - More Crap Faster!:

Since it uses pretty much every GB for building, probably not. But I no longer work at that company, so .
edit: Oh, I should have mentioned, my build system did have a very nice SSD...

That imposes quite a bit of overhead. Our builds take about 30 seconds in Linux and over 5 minutes on Windows on the same hardware. (That's building a large suite of small programs.) So that's quite believable...

@levicki said in Firefox - More Crap Faster!:
I must be honest too -- I grown up listening to 60s, 70s, 80s music as well as some classic, a lot of blues, and some jazz. Most music made today just doesn't do anything for me with some rare but notable exceptions.
As did I. But I don't turn deaf ears to all music, and I enjoy good music regardless of when it came out.

Milk chocolate is vile poison to me. Because lactose and milk proteins. Means that when I make pumpkin-chocolate-chip bread (like I did Wednesday), I have to search out the fancy "pure chocolate" chips.
And that bread is anything but healthy (the largest ingredient by mass is sugar), but it's sure tasty!
