I've had arguments with a Brexiteer who argued that "a second vote on the same thing is undemocratic!"
He meant a referendum, of course.
I've yet have to hear a peep from him when his parliament repeatedly voted on the same things (because, obviously enough, saying "no" to everything does not quite work.)

Third and fourth votes are fine though.

At this point I assume the government is going to keep voting until the MPs get fed up and just vote for leaving. Like how children keep asking until a parent gets annoyed and gives in.

Presumably forgetting it wasn't even binding and there's no obligation to implement the result.

The thing I found hilarious was the votes Thursday.

Yeah, but saying that something is good because CS was worse is like saying the climate somewhere in nice because it's warmer than Antarctica.
I remember seeing a lot of complaints about CS, and then people lost their minds over Discourse, but I don't see a lot of complaints about NodeBB. Is it really that much better, or are people just better about keeping their complaints in Meta (which I don't visit much)?

Hey, don't classify me as normal, please
Don't worry, usually there are many other criteria involved in reaching that category, but being respectful is a good start.
Normal is only desirable if you are subnormal. On the civility criteria, I would agree that, generally speaking, we're subnormal here, but in most other respects I would be insulted to be called normal. It sounds like you regard it as an aspiration.

Community Server (community edition) had no development team.
Discourse's development team banned us from their support forum for using it to report bugs like they told us to.
NodeBB's devs exist and are willing to talk to us.

There's plenty wrong with NodeBB - we've just got used to modern forums being shitty in exactly these ways. We're comparing NodeBB to Dicksauce - and when we had Dicksauce, we were comparing it to PHPBB and other forum software of the last decade. Also, the NodeBB dev team doesn't insist we change our local customs, and don't react with hostility to bug reports and dissing.

Because by the time you've had first contact with Dicksauce, they've fixed most of the issues it had. We used it from day 1 after release. (By day 1.5, we discovered two different script injection methods.)

I seriously question whether Community Server counts as anything of the last decade. The decade before would be more accurate. It made sites that you'd expect to see badges declaring that they “work best with Netscape Navigator 4” on. It was seriously awful in a great many ways.

The only people yet to experience actual issues with Discourse are people who have never used it.
NodeBB isn't perfect but we had a lot of actual issues with Discourse and maybe a lot of them are fixed (or Discofixed™) now - it was a more immature product when we got it.
