A reminder: fuck Disqus with a leaky car battery

So piece of shit, insecure, privacy-invading, cross-site tracking, content-stealing pile of bloated javascript shit "comment platform" Disqus is even more fucking shit than ever before:
http://the-digital-reader.com/2017/01/26/disqus-now-requires-either-ads-paid-subscription-commenting-platform/
Oh gee, really, you first get a bunch of fucking idiots locked into a platform and THEN jack up the price and/or force ads on the end users. Thank you, site admins. You already sold out your userbase's private information and browsing habits to a scummy third party. Now you can fuck your users over even more by shoving more ads in their face (and into their browser's security holes).
Or you can always leave Disqus, and lose all the content your users generated for you because you were a fucking idiot and put it all in a third-party system you don't have access to.
Fuck Disqus with a leaky car battery.

Sounds like a great opportunity for a competitor. Now let's see, what other communication related words start with D?

Disinformation?
Just pitch it to the White House, Downing Street, Brussels and the Kremlin and rake in ze moneys!
-
I would personally like to thank Disqus for doing their part to remove comment sections from the Internet.
-
Is it ok to punch Disqus?
-
Disqus is worse than Medium for political bias.
I gave up on it.
-
I'm just waiting for Discord to prove to be a huge WTF. The names are just too similar for comfort.

Is Dyalog TRWTF?

Uh, um, wha...? Next you'll tell me HTML is the next Hitler.
Filed under: it is, but that's beside the point

I had brought this up a little while ago, but today I've got some more Fun With Disqus And Google
So it turns out that I had already had a Disqus account, IIRC created with the "sign in with google" option. Now I want to change the username on it. However, changing the username requires the password. As far as I know, I haven't got a password, because I used the "sign in with google" option. But it does offer to send a password reset email, so I do that.
Did it arrive? No, nothing in my inbox. Nothing in the promotional inbox either. Maybe it got filtered in spam?
No, it's not there either. But this is:
-
@hungrier Apparently I'm , as I had set up a gmail rule a hundred years ago where any Disqus email would silently skip the inbox and go into its own label. All my password resets and verification emails were in there.

Luckily, you also submitted a fallback WTF from MySpace that appears legit.

And you didn't notice that the label had a craptonne(1) of unread mails? Or were you even more TR, by having the rule mark them "read"?
(1) "metric crapton", duh.
-
@Steve_The_Cynic I didn't notice the label at all, much less its increase from a craptonne of old spam to a slightly bigger craptonne
