Who looks at their keyboard?

Who never looks at their keyboard, but for some reason gets totally fucked up if they try to use a keyboard that has a lot of letters rubbed off?
I have no idea why, but it totally messes me up.

This happened when I can't map physical layout. For reasons unknown, layouts aren't stored in a practical manner and instead rely on the muscle-memory structures and keying matches based on Stage data for the keyboard, which isn't really meant for that kind of thing....

You have obviously never used an Apple track pad.
I have indeed used an Apple track pad.
No sir, I don't like it – 00:06

Mac and Emacs user here. As such, one would think that I hoard keyboard buttons like a guinea pig preparing for armageddon. Turns out I have virtually never used the function keys as function keys. The only thing I use them for is that I have remapped F7, F8, and F9 to work with EMMS (Emacs MultiMedia System), since I did not find any other way to capture the play/pause events from OSX.
I do miss the ten macro keys to the right that the old SUN keyboards had, though. They were handy and easy to reach in regular use. I know there are gaming keyboards that have macro keys like that, but then I also get a spacebar big enough to do the Lindy-hop on plus the annoying wasteland that is the numeric keyboard to traverse everytime I do have to use the mouse.

At least you have an Escape key. The new Macbook Pro doesn't.
It does, but only if the TouchBar shows one, by the looks of it:

You have obviously never used an Apple track pad. They are much better than any mouse, and tremendously more efficient than mice, IMHO.
I wouldn't say they're better than mice but they are very good trackpads.

Speaking only for myself, I think for most "regular user" type uses on a computer, the Apple trackpad is superior. Scrolling/zooming and the like with it are much easier than they are using a mouse, to me. Now, for a lot of specialized stuff (gaming, image manipulation, audio/video editing, etc) a mouse is far more precise and a much better tool.

@e4tmyl33t It is very handy for casual use, especially using the laptop on the couch.

That's not an Escape key though. It's a segment of touch keyboard that they couldn't even put in the right place This is what happens when you prioritize aesthetics over function... (unless the uncolored section to the left also triggers Esc in which case it's still an aesthetic sellout)

Seems like it's a touch-sensitive bar applications can write to?

The fuck? Manufacturer and model number?
HP ProBook 650 G1. As it reminds me every time I press the ESCAPE key.
(Pros don't need ESCAPE, don'tcha know.)
Actually, I tried installing the HP HotKeys Manager or something in the hopes that it would have some ability to help, but I think after I installed it I couldn't even find it, so so much for that. At some point I've just got to actually find my phone headset and ask their Help Desk how the hell to make it stop.

The TouchBar thing seems like it could be useful but will probably mostly be a PITA that users ignore.
Developers too. Seriously, why would I spend time writing something for a single machine. With my cross-platform program.
It won't be popular format until we get porn on it.

I discovered this funkiness with the Lenovo X240/T440 models my client company uses. Interestingly enough, they have a "FnLk" function on the Esc key (so Fn+Esc) that locks Fn like Caps Lock or Num Lock so you can get around it. Now, for SOME reason, they decided to put the little LED for this on the Fn button rather than the Esc key (where the FnLk designation is), so back before we actually figured out this FnLk ability existed, we got confused as all hell when we got a few users calling in saying their Fn key was lit up.
On this Lenovo E555 I also have the BIOS setting to swap the functionality of the Ctrl- and Fn-keys. (Because by default the Ctrl-key is - for some reason - not the most outward key.)
So now I can press the physical keys Ctrl + Esc to make the Fn-Key light up because that's how I can switch between F-Keys and Function-keys. It makes no goddamn sense! That's what they definitely got right on the Surface Book - the Fn-key is simply a toggle like CapsLock.

What happens if you try to bring Task Manager up with Shift+Ctrl+Esc?

Same for the Surface Pro keyboard cover thing, it's just a toggle. (I had to actually pull mine out and double-check since I never use the Fn key on that thing)

I can't quite understand what he's talking about originally (something about a restaurant, paella and Sevilla), but I recognised the word "cocinero" — which means "cook" — being used at the same time as the name Tim Cook appeared in the subtitles. At least twice. That was an interesting coincidence.

someone made porn for that 3k$ OLED keyboard, so it is only a matter of time.
