I always thought "The Hurdy Gurdy" was a joke or euphemism or myth. It's history is pretty fascinating.
Yeah, Hypatia has a dude playing it. Well, if you could get back on, since, you know, the servers are down...

Still not as bad as One Minute Physics.

Need to view in actual YouTube for it to make sense: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZQvSeG3hzQ
Be prepared to scroll, and don't go full-screen!

Multi-monitor with different resolutions, and it's still not enough. Interesting, the video played across both monitors when I stretch the window...

I don't have any horizontal scrolling. It shows while the page is loading, but then promptly disappears.

5760 pixels wasn't enough to display the whole thing.

@loopback0 My decision never to watch videos posted by @Tsaukpaetra has once again been shown to be the correct decision.

That's usually my policy but the follow up posts from other people intrigued me.

FWIW I was able to scroll using gestures on my mousepad. I expect other means of telling the browser to scroll horizontally (alt+mousewheel?) to work as well.

@Tsaukpaetra Hmm...
Not sure what they were trying to do. I see they have a pile of Cthulhu summoning Unicode near the middle of the timeline, but it just looks like garbage.
Maybe @HardwareGeek has the right idea.

I'll dissolve the illusion: It's supposed to be an uber-wide video featuring a walking pony (moving from left to right), for which you'd have to scroll to see.
Nominally, video-players would "pan-and-scan" automatically, but YouTube breaks on that. You can see all sorts of things going on outside the apparent focus of the scene. Not terribly exciting things, mind, but things nonetheless.
Oh, and also the progress of said pony is followed meticulously by the progress bar of the video.

Which, combined with the lack of an horizontal scrollbar, lead me to an amusing quirk.
I was trying to find how to horizontal-scroll and hit the right arrow. This does two things: it scrolls horizontally, but it also skips forward in the video. I didn't know about that last one, and since the pony advances at the same rate as the progress bar, every time I hit the key, I scrolled and forward-skipped, which kept the pony at (roughly) the same on-screen position, with just the background changing. Took me quite a few hits before I understood what was going on, since the background change was what I expected from a scroll, but obviously not having a pony following me!
Still not sure whether the best thread for this video was the "random but not dumb" or the "dumb" videos thread.

Randomly popped up in my Youtube suggestions (no idea why, I usually don't really watch this kind of things). Judging from comments and another article about it (in French), it's apparently somewhat routine work for mountain rescue pilots everywhere, but still hugely impressive.

@Dragoon Yeah, that's why I said it was real. And... yeah, I bet that hurt a lot! I'm actually surprised it's physically possible!
She looks like she's very light, with the slender physique of a dancer. I wonder how much heavier someone could be before disaster strikes?

Not much more than perhaps 20 pounds.
Ok google, what is the shear-tensile elasticity of skin?
