@boomzilla Well, if that's not what you were talking about, what were you talking about?

You highlight text with your mouse and then paste that text somewhere else with a middle click.

Gee, because that's so much less effort. You don't even have to right click on the selection, you just have to right click somewhere. And I'd much rather middle click did something the keyboard doesn't already do.

@boomzilla Exactly. Just because you don't use the middle click scroller doesn't mean it's not good for anything. So what's wrong with using Ctrl V to paste when your other hand is on the keyboard already?

Did you just assume what my hand was doing?
There's nothing wrong with that but middle click to paste the primary selection is hugely convenient and none of your imaginary objections are going to change that.
-
@boomzilla You think I'm imagining the default behavior of the middle click button on Windows? Troll harder.
-
@pie_flavor What?
-
@boomzilla Oh, were you imagining that I had different imaginary objections?
-
@boomzilla said in Lorne has the misfortune of being an idiot by circumstance: my experience with windows 10 so far:
primary selection
Does this mean that selecting something in a different app deselects what you had already selected in another app? Or is the primary selection just from the top-most window that has a selection? Or just most recent?

For the purposes of pasting with the middle button, the older selection is deselected. The text is not deselected as far as that program is concerned.

Probably. It's difficult to predict what people who are wrong will say.

You forgot: it doesn't mess with what's on the clipboard. That's the important part.
