How to lose business from IT "professionals"

@anotherusername said in How to lose business from IT "professionals":
then calling them unprofessional on Twitter/Reddit/wherever is just as bad as some random idiot behind a keyboard calling them "faggots" for doing it.
Really.
You think "unprofessional" as an insult is exactly as bad as "faggot" as an insult.
I like how you cut out the part about them stealing money and then pretended it didn't exist.

Because it's irrelevant. I said so. Scroll up.
We're talking about the insults traded, the level of discourse. Anotherusername said it was equal between both parties. When I asked him to demonstrate that, he said "unprofessional" is equivalent to "faggot".

Stealing money is never irrelevant unless you're talking about someone who wasn't the person who stole it or the person it was stolen from. In this case, we're talking about both of them. It's relevant.

That's the stupidest thing I've read today, and I've spent time in Guacamole.

And you want to abandon any context and whatever. Jeez, this is pretty pathetic.
-
@anotherusername If a man holds me at gunpoint and takes my wallet, it's still rude to call him a "cock-sucking motherfucker", even if it's justified.
-
@boomzilla no kidding. And then he wonders why I downvote his posts. Jeez.

Yeah, but still less rude than armed robbery.
-

I don't wonder why, I just think it's hilarious. Downvotes don't do anything. It's like the forum software provides free trolling.

No disagreement there.
I hold a company's support to a much higher standard than some random idiot with a Twitter account, though.
-
@blakeyrat said in How to lose business from IT "professionals":
Contacting a guy who's just doing his job and calling him a faggot is never justified.
You seem to be confused. IT did not leave that message AFAIK.
-
@blakeyrat I call bullshit on someone actually putting that in TEST's support ticket. My guess is random people contacted them signing up for service and put that shit in their own support tickets.
-
@JazzyJosh Right; and it just happened to occur at the same time. It's all coincidence!
-

At the same time as it blew up on social media? Yeah, I wonder how a bunch of random people all found out about how shitty a company they were, all right at the same time. Conspiracy!
-
@blakeyrat Considering TEST consists of about
25.8 thousand spergs, yes, it's more than likely someone not in IT sent them.
-
@anotherusername It must be interesting to be equipped with the kind of ethical and moral framework that makes it just perfectly hunky-dory for you to spend all your time defending asshats calling people "faggots".
-

Then it was pretty stupid of those IT people to give them all access to it, huh? I already made that point way up top. Go back and re-read.
-
@blakeyrat How about you re-read where the provider themselves state that it was live chat and sales tickets, not support tickets
-

As opposed to be equipped with the kind of ethical and moral framework that makes it just perfectly hunky-dory to spend your time defending people who steal from getting called names?
-
@JazzyJosh Oh well then it's perfectly ok and defensible!
Oh wait, that changes nothing at all.
Seriously, people. Stop white-knighting for dickholes slinging insults to random guys just working for a living.
If you see a guy go up to a Burger King window and start yelling, "you're a faggot, faggot!" do you suddenly go, "oh well I'm sure it's ok because maybe he was angry over something else that happened to someone else. You know. He's perfectly ok, give him a break."
-
@blakeyrat Did you know it's possible not to defend people shouting slurs at others but still defend their employer
-

They're not
We have no reason to believe the people who bought the service did anything unprofessional in the slightest. We do know people (who were probably very pissed off at being disconnected) sent unprofessional messages to the service. That's not OK. But it's not the fault of the customer who paid for the service.

You wouldn't know that from reading this thread.

My information only came from this thread. So....
?

So how is libelously calling people murderers OK?

I think we need a Venn diagram here so that Blakey makes sense of it. I mean, reading doesn't seem to be his forte, so maybe a picture might help?

What about upvotes? Since they don't do anything any longer, are you over your anti-like fetish?
-

What would you do if, when you pulled up to the window, the guy with the headset was lisping and holding his hand limp-wristed?

I somewhat reminded of the shenanigans pulled by Peter 'Weaselboy' Francis-Macrae when he was running TrueHosting/DotComAvenue. Of course, the difference was that he was running a flat out scam, for the most part - unrealistic uptime claims, offering services he didn't provide, serving domains he had no right to offer for sale, claiming to represent an agency he was not affiliated with, refusing to accept cancellations and continuing to bill customers after they discontinued service, threatening both legal action and physical violence. claiming to have a US data center when in fact all of his hosting was just reselling someone else's hosting, hacking another hosting company's credit card information, then bouncing mail through their mail servers to send their customers messages saying that the host in question was shutting down (it wasn't), threatening to firebomb regulatory agencies and police stations, and on and on.
Criminal charges against him included harassment, fraud, blackmail, and concealing criminal property (i.e., a huge stash of money the authorities could never locate). They couldn't charge him with his main scheme, which was running a massive spamming operation hosted in the PRC, but hey, the law can only do so much.
It was funny to watch from a distance, but I'd hate to have been one of the poor fuckers who got burned by him. Sadly, the massive database of emails sent by 'David Jarvis' and other sockpuppets of Macrae's that technogirl.net used to have seems to have vanished along with that site, but so it goes.
I haven't been able to find out if he's out of jail yet (he was supposed to serve six years, but last I heard he kept doing things that led the courts to keep piling on the time); perhaps one of the people actually in the UK might know?

a @blakeyrat upvote has about the same claim to be valuable than bitcoin (scarcity). you'll end making millions out of them someday.

The one where expecting more than 2 users at a time is not the expected workflow for a public communications software solution for a community.
Ah, I see the confusion. The sex and travel option is actually two words....

A single circle labelled ‘assholes’, ‘EVE-players’, and ‘sysadmins’.

This thread was a waste of time. I want a refund! Faggots.
-
Hey @blakeyrat, let me explain this in terms you would understand:
There's a dragon attacking Whiterun. You have these choices:
- Bash the dragon
- Nuke Whiterun
- Bill the Jarl for the damage to the city
Obviously the correct solution is #2 followed by #3
-
@ben_lubar said in How to lose business from IT "professionals":

Are you saying it's OK to call someone a faggot if they look like a stereotypical gay person?
