@Yamikuronue Says the person who keeps posting dismissive replies and then says 'but I'm not having this conversation'.
Again and again.
-
You're right, of course. I should have known better than to speak up about racism on this forum. I'll try harder in the future.
I'm out.
-
Uh, guys? What happened to the custom emoji?
-
@Yamikuronue Because people are totally being racist here apart from the person who falsely assumed someone's race and made disparaging comments about them, assuming malice where none was given.
Seriously, can you stop with all the 'I have the moral high ground' comments? You're one of the most dismissive on this entire site, with no respect for opinions that differ from your own.

@Magus said in Another SJW hoax.:
who falsely assumed someone's race
who?
I'm Cajun. Technically I'm all kinds of things, but I am Native American a few generations back from my dad's mom. I suspect there's some creole on my dad's dad side, but I haven't been able to confirm that. I have a few people on my dad's side that are definitely influenced by native culture. There's even a raised by wolf legend in my family history. Which is where the wolf icon comes from.
-
@xaade The point is, you're actually in a position to know what you're talking about in that specific regard, and don't need someone presuming you're racist for mentioning it.
-
@Magus I get most of my knowledge because my sister participated in native dance re-enactments from other people that were a few generations removed.
People underestimate just how cultured Louisiana white people are. We're just terrible at keeping records of it.
-
@xaade How to be presumed racist: Mention something near Yami that she recognizes as belonging to at least one group.

I would suggest that first you learn how to recognize it.

The Acadiens, unlike the English and Spanish, had good relations with and respect for Native Americans. In Acadie, the French settlers stayed on the perimeter of the island and the Mi'kmacs inhabited the interior. This relationship was carried forward by the Cajuns towards the Native American tribes of Louisiana. It is estimated by Larry Richard who was curator of the Mississippi Valley Museum at Acadian Village in Lafayette, La. that fully 40% of today's Cajuns also possess Native American ancestry.
The English wanted the lands the Acadiens had cleared and planted for English settlers. Charles Lawrence, the British governor, concocted a scheme whereby he insisted that the Acadiens sign an oath of allegiance to the English king, renounce their Catholic faith and agree to fight against the Mi'kmacs. The Acadiens refused. Lawrence told his people that even if the Acadiens were to sign the oath, he would have them deported regardless.
Belcher invokes disorders, supposed or real , caused by Acadians and American Indian Mi'kmacs tribes excited , it seems, by the arrival of the French in Newfoundland . He organized a new massive deportation of Acadians . As of August 6 , 915 are in detention in Halifax while 300 to 400 are present in the rest of the province.

@Yamikuronue Sorry but when people start calling people's hair styling racist and other such nonsense they dilute the meaning of what it is to be a racist i.e. hating people because they have an ethnicity other than their own.
I don't think anyone that regularly posts on this forum can be described as a racist.
-
It's certainly possible to be a racist and to adopt another race's hairstyle.
But it's not the adoption of the hairstyle that is the problem.
You'll get far too many false positives if you focus on hairstyle.

Some arseholes think so.

@lucas1 Wrong ethnicity too, The style came in contact with Jamaican culture through the slavery of Indians.
We could debate over which historical culture had it first, and likely be wrong anyway.
-
@xaade
Yes we most probably be wrong, because I am sure if there were another people of an earlier culture or dynasty that nicked it, they had "appropriated it" from them.If they are going to go to those lengths, if I grow my hair & beard am I appropriating Islamic / Sikh culture?
It gets to the point rather quickly that it is an absolute farce, I am sure there is some sort logically fallacy for this?
-
non-sequitur.
- Race generally has hairstyle.
- Person of other race has hairstyle
Conclusion:
Person appropriated it from race, and such an act is racist because person is a closeted racist.
-
I wonder if: "You notice that my long hair is in seven locks. Weave it together in the loom, just as if it were the threads in a piece of cloth."
Means that Samson had dreadlocks?
-
@xaade He probably culturally appropriated it from the black Israelites ... if you believe black hitler on youtube.
-
@lucas1 The kid in that video moves like a badly-animated NPC.
-
@coldandtired To be honest if you were wearing those trousers you would to.

Now, some may discount this, but I don't know anyone who ever bought a personalized cake that didn't look at it before buying it, because you'd be stupid not to, not because of what he claims happened, but because people make mistakes, and it might have your message misspelled, which could cause problems if, say, it's for your four-year-old daughter, and they spelled her name wrong.
I was going to make a joke like:
Yeah I ordered a cake once, and instead of Love Wins, Fag! they wrote Love Wine, Fag!
But then I noticed you wrote a sentence with approx. 37 commas in it and now I'm too disgusted.

Demonstrating your illiteracy again, eh?
I can't help it if your shoulder aliens can't parse a slightly complex sentence.

@xaade said in Another SJW hoax.:
Imma let you finish, @xaade, but it's "Toe the line." /racist_correction
Ironic. I originally typed that. Then I thought, "what the hell does a toe have to do with keeping in check. The line is a guideline, so dragging it along makes more sense."
And that's how we end up with "for all intensive purposes"....
Now I realize that it probably means keeping your toe on the right side of the line...
Stupid English.
"The “Father of Baseball Umpires” holds the MLB record for most ejections by an umpire with 251. During disputes, Klem drew a line in the dirt with his toe and ejected any manager or player who crossed it." http://www.dailydsports.com/?p=2979

As more and more hoaxes are caught, people will stop taking these cases seriously.
"Oh, it was probably a [oppressed group member] that did it and is going to let [privileged group] take the blame. Ignore it.
These groups are undermining themselves.
Another interesting twist in this case is that "her" motives were the opposite of what one might assume. Assuming she was telling the truth.
